Q: File sharing password

When filesharing on a Lion mac with a Mavericks mac it always connects thru my icloud account not requiring a password.  This does not happen when file sharing on the Mavericks mac.  If I delete the icloud Apple ID from users and groups on the Lion mac, the problem goes away.   Is there a way to fix this so that the Apple ID can remain and a password is required?

Thanks

File Sharing is set in System Preferences > Sharing.

Your Apple ID is set in System Preferences > iCloud

User's & Groups contains your User name and password. This is not necessarily your Apple ID and/or same password.

Are you trying to use Back to My Mac?

    Hi

I am not using back to my mac.  I would like to enable file sharing on a Mavericks mac and then share the Mavericks mac files with a Lion mac securely.  The lion mac simply enables file sharing without requiring a password.

Interestingly, I have an icloud acct and password and an apple id and password.  If either of these is in the Apple ID of users and groups of the lion mac, the lion mac will sign me in with whichever one is there automatically.  If neither is there, it requires a password of the user name of the Mavericks mac.

When I turn on file sharing on the Lion mac and call for those files on the Mavericks mac everything works fine.

An option you might want to consider is to use DropBox. It's free for up to 2GB. Install DropBox on both computers and use it to move files between your two computers. As long as you move the files out of DropBox, the free account will easily do what you want without having to use passwords.
