Q: Mail is puting mail from a VIP to junk even though junk is not turned

My car sends me email status updates which i am not able to get no matter what.  On my MAC the emails are consistently going to the junk folder even though the emails are not flagged as junk.  Additionally, the sender exists in my contacts and is flagged as a VIP.  Still no luck.  I took my MAC to the apple store and worked with one of the techs and they couldn't figure it out either.  We looked at iCloud as i am not able to get any of these emails on any of my devices.  The only place we can access them is in my junk folder on my MAC.

Makes no sense.  This has been going on for 3 weeks now and i am getting pretty frustrated especially when the store can't figure it out either.

I might look into ditching the MAC email program all together since it cant work as expected.

I may have fixed this on my own.  I however will not be able to confirm it until tomorrow.  My backend email service provider was handling the emails as spam.  I went thru and selected each one that it wasn't spam.  I will see if it worked in the morning and post a response on here if it indeed did fix the issue.

    Thanks

So I was able to fix this issue and below are the details:

    1. Gmail was handling the emails as spam.  So I had to go to gmail.com, log into my account, go to the spam folder and select "This is not Spam" for each email.  Having Gmail handle the emails as spam alone made my MAC treat the email as junk and therefore make the email never show up on any of my iOS devices.

    2. At this point, the emails were still not showing up.  When I had gone to the MAC store, the associate had me set up a rule in iCloud to force the emails into a special folder out of the Junk folder, which didnt work either because of the issue with Gmail treating the email as Spam.  So once I had fixed the Spam issue, this rule was now working.  I had to log into iCloud and disable the rule.  The same associate also recommended not using Apple Mail too as they had experienced some limitations with it.

    3. The emails are showing up now as expected but not when expected.  I mean like an hour to several hours later.  I do not know if this remaining issue is related to Apple, Gmail or the systems involved with my car.

Incase you were wondering, my car is not anything too fancy.  It is a Honda Fit EV (100% electric) which sends me notifications or alerts via email.  Notifications such as when the charge is complete and when preconditioning will stop in 10 minutes, its time to leave kind of a thing.  My charge complete email was sent at 10:48 pm last night and it didnt show up on my phone until 7:00 am this morning.  My preconditioning notification which is suposed to remind me its time to leave, was sent at 6:20 am but didn't pop up on my phone until 7:24 am when I am already at work.  The email is also set as VIP so when the emails do come thru, they pop up on my iPhone as an alert.

    Thanks

That's a user choice, it can be turned on or off at will.
