Q: no audio through tv from mac mini

I recently purchased a Samsung 32" model 5300 Smart TV, and I have a Mac Mini that are connected by a HDMI cord. The audio portion (while in the computer  mode) will not come through the tv only the mac.  I had a non "smart" with no built in wi fi and used the same HDMI cord with no problem - audio came through

tv.  I am at the end of my ropes...ANYONE have a clue what to do?

Mac mini, iOS 7

Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back. Is HDMI even a choice?

Does the TV have other Sound inputs?

And I wonder if this might apply to the pure HDMI port also, what vintage Mini is it?

Praise the Heavens!  I didn't go to Apps>Utilities but went to system preferences > selected SAMSUNG as it was on internal speakers...and Wa La.

I am so appreciative of your response.  I spoke with Samsung (three times), Best Buy online and on phone, & Geek Squad, and since my mac is two years old NO FREE advise from Apple...and even though I can't believe I had not made that connection before I find it interesting all the pros at these Support lines never even asked that I check that.

You are an Angel, thank you.
