Jun 4, 2014 11:48 AM in response to andrewlogeskyby pjl123,This must be a trick question, because the obvious answer is to put the videos into i tunes on the computer, reformat them if necessary to run on the pad, and simply sync. include them in the libraries selected in the 'photos' tab

Jun 4, 2014 1:15 PM in response to andrewlogeskyby Texas Mac Man,★HelpfulAnother way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

Jun 5, 2014 5:31 AM in response to pjl123by andrewlogesky, robdrage, thanks for the reply.
pjl123, this is not a trick question. You may have 5,990 points under your doggy picture, but that doesn't give you the right to act like the rest of us are stupid. I have converted the videos to run on the iPad, but when I choose to sync photos on the devices window in iTunes, the videos will not show up so that I can sync them. Maybe you can help me out further. I understand what you're saying, but maybe I'm missing something when I'm in the photos tab of my iPad device.
Texas Mac Man, I never knew something like this existed. If pjl123 would work nicely with me, maybe we can get this resolved and I won't have to purchase a camera connection kit. That's not to say I won't after I've exhausted all other options.

Jun 5, 2014 5:41 AM in response to andrewlogeskyby pjl123,I was not trying to be snarky, apologies if it came across that way. I was not getting that the videos were not showing up in I tunes. I'll try it this evening, (if you have not got it solved by then). In the past for me it was pretty straightforwrd to pull the video into photos and simply sync it.

Jun 5, 2014 5:57 AM in response to andrewlogeskyby Skydiver119,One question, and I don't have mobile keynote to look, does it support the use of video?
If you're going to try Texas' suggestion, try using a SD card instead of a USB stick. I've literally had a 50/50 success rate with USB sticks while every SD card I've plugged in works. So try following his naming convention, the DCIM folder, 8 character file name, but put it on an SD card and use the camera connection kit to import it.
But the thing with video, while I can import them via the photos app, when I try to play them they open the video app, so I'm not sure if it'll work or not.

Jun 5, 2014 6:00 AM in response to andrewlogeskyby Jolieteddie,I use a WiFi transfer app to send MP4 videos from my PC to my iPad into the Camera Roll and then in Keynote insert them into a presentation. I do a lot of this and it works without any fuss. I hope that you work this out.
Here's another hint if you're building Keynote presentations and just want to insert an audio clip: using any simple video editing software on your PC, create a video with your audio clip as the soundrack, then use a photo or graphic as the image and set it to run on screen as the same time as the lenght of the audio. Save it as an MP4 video. I hope that makes sense. I needed to build presentations of oral histories and music and found that Keynote doesn't offer a direct import of audio files and so figured out this work-around. If someone knows of a more direct way, let me know.

Jul 9, 2014 10:51 PM in response to andrewlogeskyby augratin,It looks like I'll be the first to recommend File Browser. It's not free, in fact at $6 it's one of the most expensive apps I've ever bought. But it has been well worth it, and I have absolutely no buyer's remorse. You can browse through files in almost any device on your local network and transfer them in a few taps. And it's bidirectional, so you can also move files from the iOS device to your desktop or laptop.
