Jun 4, 2014 8:50 PM in response to CMCSKby Apple1278,I physically pressed the arrow on my keyboard. Record your self on photobooth, and then press the arrow thats on your keyboard while you are recording. The video just disapears, where does it go? It doesn't even save!
It's not in my library, and I also checked the "show Package Contents" option, but it just had random files.
I had 40 mins worth of footage but it dissapeared.

Jun 4, 2014 8:51 PM in response to SumUserby Apple1278,I checked it, but it had random files that didn't make sense. I've looked through all the files but couldn't find anything.
Thank you for your suggestion!

Jun 4, 2014 9:35 PM in response to Apple1278by CMCSK,Which os are you on?
I pressed every arrow key on my keyboard while recording in Photo Booth & nothing happened. I am going to request a host to move your post to the iSight forum area. Photo Booth is ingrained with iSight. There is a user there name EZJim who is an expert in these type of matters. I suspect your video recording is lost because I cannot fathom why you are hitting any keys on your keyboard while recording! Unless you are using an os that I am not using that has Photo Booth + keyboard recording options.

Jun 4, 2014 9:47 PM in response to CMCSKby Apple1278,Well the only reason i pressed the arrow key while recording was to prevent the laptop from sleeping. I was wiggling the mouse the entire time but I just pressed the arrow key because I thought that would work as well. I wanted to make sure it was still awake to record.
I am on OS X 10.9.2.
That's very unusual, I just recorded myself and pressed the left arrow key to be exact, and it jumped right to the very first picture I took 4 years ago.
Where do I proceed from here?
Thank you so much, you are extremely helpful during this stressful time!

Jun 4, 2014 11:19 PM in response to Apple1278by SumUser,Here are a couple of other things to try.
1. Have Photo Booth create a new library by renaming your current Photo Booth Libarry by adding .old to the end. Launch the app and a new Photo Booth Library should be created.
2. Create a new user or do a test video run in the guest account. If you are able to record video in a new user it's something isolated to your user and will require more troubleshooting.
Best!

As you have found, if Photo Booth's tray contains one or more thumbnails, and if active recording is in progress when you press a keyboard arrow key, "The video just disapears... It doesn't even save!"
I know of no way to retrieve the unsaved recording. Your only option is to try to recreate the video.
In general, if there is any picture or video in Photo Booth's tray, pressing an arrow key while Photo Booth is the active (foreground) application:
• immediately terminates on-going video recording
• changes which image or video is selected in the Photo Booth tray
• displays the selected item.
The only way I know to prevent terminating Photo Booth video recording when an arrow is pressed is to delete all images and videos from the Photo Booth tray before starting a video recording. Before deleting them from the Photo Booth tray, be sure to export and save any images or videos you want to keep.
I know of no easy way to get them back into Photo Booth's tray (database) once they are deleted.
Photo Booth is a basic, "fun", application that makes quick snapshots and videos. For future serious video recording, consider using iMovie, QuickTime Pro, or QuickTimeX instead of Photo Booth

Jan 15, 2015 5:11 AM in response to Apple1278by Farmsttrr,There are one and only one way for recovering the lost photos from the digital storage media that is using photo recovery software.
If your photos get deleted, formatted, corrupted and lost due to any cause of data loss situations then only an advanced Photo Recovery will helps you to recover the lost photos, because it is especially designed to retrieve lost photos.
Follow recovery software works in following ways:
First scan your storage media where you lost your photos.
Second analyze the the available data for recovering.
Third recover the lost photos, videos, audios and other lost data.
Fourth restore the lost data to the specific location wherever you want.
