Thanks for your reply and for the link. Of course, Apple's listing still leaves the question, "What's going on?" I think Steve Jobs would have had the same question... if Disk Utility says "Repaired," why aren't those "repaired?"

You do not need to run it regularly, or indeed ever. It's powers are extremely limited; it is not the cure-all for any Mac problem. File attributes do not rust; they are not made of cheese.
