Q: No Sound with Texts after iOS7 Update

After updating my iPhone 4 to iOS7 I have no sound for incoming texts when my phone is sleeping.  All other sounds ok.  Tried my alarm with phone asleep and it works.  Music plays after going to sleep.  Haven't noticed anything else not working.  When I wake up my phone the text message is there, but, no sound when it came.

iPhone 4, iOS 7, Help Please

THIS IS THE SOLUTION WITH A BLUETOOTH.  If you want to leave your Bluetooth on and connects and still hear audio notifications...set your Do Not Disturb to allow calls from EVERYONE!!!

I turned my Google Maps microphone off and the sound for my texts and ringtones started working again, then stopped after i synched.  I turned the microphone off for Shazaam and it works again.  What a pain.

My solution was simpler. I have an iphone 5. All i had to do was flip the mute lever up. (this lever is above the volume down and up button)

This fixed my text sound issue on the iphone 5....thanks

I found a solution to this, which is really simple - it worked for me, maybe it'll work for you too.

Hold in the lock button and home button for a few seconds until the phone restarts itself.

Once restarted, your notifications and sound may be back. Like I say, it worked for me, fingers crossed it solves your problem too

I tried everything suggested here. Then I asked a friend that has one and it rurns out there is a lock on the left side of the phone, at the top. If it shows red, the text alert won't work. Just by sliding it to the right was all it took. It now works just fine and I get my texts.

Cheers THAT was the trick I needed to make it all come back. The MUTE bloody button !!

I would like to be able to mark that what jimt1952 suggested solved my problem but seems there is no way that other suggestions can solve the problem if you did not pose teh question. Stupid system.Credit where creit is due.

to fix the ios no text sound, no safari video sound, no sound when you plug device in etc etc all one needs to do is let your iphone lock by itself (dont touch it for one min or however long your auto lock is set for) and this will do the trick! I've had this frustrating occurance happen numerous times on my 4s and i finally dug up the answer somewhere online. The blowing into /sucking/qtip insertion into the headphone plug in does not work, the on off switch is too obvious and if do not disturb is left on and you can't realize it then…well probably should not be using a complicated device like this. Hope this helps anyone before they return phone, do a restore, put in DFU, trade in for droid…

As in 'The Karate kid,' you must first 'sweep up.' Once you've done that, at the top of the screen you will see an Icon of a Quarter Crescent Moon. Tap it once and 'Do not disturb,' will appear. Tap the Icon again, and 'Do not Disturb' will disappear. You have it set on 'Do not Disturb,' and so your notifications are 'Muted.' Happy Trails...

This was the case for me as well. Do not disturb was set to Manual. Thanks!
