Mar 3, 2014 6:54 PM in response to Innurby t quinn,Hi Innur,
You are not really giving anyone much to go on. Is this happening on your Mac? on your iOS device? Maverics with Numbers 3? Latest iOS Numbers? What was going on when the file changed?
I suggest restore it from back up and carry on.
I am sorry I can't be more help.

Mar 4, 2014 1:53 AM in response to t quinnby Innur,Thanks,
Yes MacBook Pro 15" early 2011, OS X Maverics, Numbers 3.1.
At this time, nothing extreme did not happened, safari, mail, Adobe Illustrator were probably running.
I can restore it from backup, losing some data. Will manage
But I am more worried what caused it, will it happen again.
I have been using numbers for past 7 years and never seen something like that.
Next time the loss can be way bigger, as we use numbers partly for accounting.

Mar 4, 2014 6:21 AM in response to Innurby t quinn,Hi Innur,
You posted to the iOS forum. That is why I thought dropbox (or gmail ) might be involved. I haven't seen your problem over on the Numbers for Mac forum. I have never heard of a file simply transformig itself without anything being done to it.

Apr 9, 2014 6:44 PM in response to Innurby Ezra Wasser,Hi Tinnur,
I had this problem too. Here's how I solved it:
Open the folder that contains your file ("example.numbers").
Select example.numbers, right click and select "Get Info" or press Apple+I.
On the info window, under "Name & Extension" ensure "Hide extension" is unticked.
There may be another extension after ".numbers", which you should delete.
If your problem was like mine, your ".numbers" file should work.

Mar 15, 2016 2:03 AM in response to Ezra Wasserby greenmusic23f,I tried this, and all it did was change the name of the folder. To Sims.numbers.sb-18f98eb0-TTGUiB from Sims.numbers, from the original numbers document "Sims". I tried deleting all that stuff, and was left with a folder named Sims. Please help!
UPDATE -- I kept making copies of the screwed up folder (in case I screwed up the original screw-up, lol) and did eventually get it to work. I will back up my files more often, and book mark this page/copy your advice into a file
Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!
