None of the solutions worked for me with Yahoo account. I ended up downloading YahooMail app, can read and send emails now from this app.

I had the same problem ... my mails periodically refused to load properly on the native iOS mail app.

However I managed to solve it by using / generating an App specific password via the web and by entering the one time unique password it generates into the password field of the Yahoo Mail acct setting on my iPhone (instead of your regular email password to login via web).

    And it works like usual.

    Try it out!

I have a similar problem. I work for a small company that has Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 set up. After upgrading an iphone 4 to the latest release the mail cannot connect to server. I have tried resetting network settings resetting phone restoring to defaults, deleted the mail account and recreated it, went online to the web account and checked that the number of phone partnership was ok, there was only the one iphone, I also tried deleting it but it still couldn't connect to server, and I checked the inherit from parent objects is checked in the active directory and none of it  worked. I am unable to update the exchange server just for one phone so was wondering if there were any other solutions that I could try.

    Thank you.

    Try changing password on iPhone.

    Go to settings,

    Go to mail, accounts, calendar

    Go to account

    Change password

All I can say is that it rocked for me.

    Good luck!

I am not sure where you are seeing the option Change password. I see the option for the password is that what you mean? The password typed in there is correct. I have tried retyping it (when recreating the account) but have not tried typing in an incorrect password (the password is correct because it is the same that is used to log into the computer and that one works and logs in fine). Should i try typing in something random? Or is there some other option to change password I'm not seeing?

My iPhone5 suddenly started giving me the "connection to the server failed"  on both my company email and my yahoo account .   I got some hints here,  but ended up just simply deleting passwords and reentering them.  Problem solved !

Same problem here on my iPhone 5S, iPhone 4S and iPad Mini.  Have deleted accounts, changed (re-entered) passwords and nothing works.  In my native iOS client I have my iCloud account, a Yahoo account and one Gmail account.  I also use the Gmail iOS app for other Gmail accounts but that doesn't seem to affect this.  It is really annoying.
