Q: How do I make pages 4.3 default instead of pages 5.0

In the previous version of pages, 09 and 4.3, the first letter of any new paragraph would automatically capatalize as would each succeding first letter of a next sentence.  The pronoun "I" would automatically capatalize also.

I found I couldn't get these features to work and called Apple Tech support and apparently these features are not in the new pages 5.0 which set itself as the default program.

How can I revert to Pages 4.3 as default ?

I have also downloaded OX 10 Mavericks

Thanks,

Leonard

Then select them in your Applications folder & move them to the Trash. You will probably need to enter your admin password.

For future reference, you can see if a file is being copied by the green '+' symbol along side the cursor. If you do see the '+' hold down the ⌘ key while dragging & the file(s) will be moved instead of copied.

Thanks Peggy. I did put the applications in the trash. Problem is, my Mac doesn't recognize the apps that were copied into a different folder and the updates are still showing up in app store. I will start over and try moving the apps instead of copying, as you suggest.

I cannot get this to work. I followed Peggy's instructions and held the command key down while dragging the apps to the new folder. That was successful. I got all the way through Prekish's instructions, but at the end when I went to restore the folder with the new iWork apps from the trash, I saw that the apps themselves were in the trash—but the folder was not (despite the fact that I put the whole folder in the trash). When I click on each app and choose "put back", the app goes right back into the Applications folder, which defeats the purpose.

I wonder why this is happening to me and not others that followed Prekrish's instructions?

I have no idea why the folder would disappear. That's a Windows thing, not Mac OS. But just create a new folder & move the apps into it.

I was able to get this working, finally.

However, after updating to 10.9.4 the new iWork applications are now the default for all .pages and .doc documents. Not only that, when I do a "Get Info" and select Pages 4.3 as the default, and hit "change all", nothing happens. It just goes right back to Pages 5 being the default. The new iWork apps are still outside of the Applications folder where I put them before.

Has this happened to anyone else after updating?

Using Get Info to change all documents to open with Pages 4.3 doesn't work. It will work on individual files, but that could be a lot of files to reset. You will need to redo the steps as before to make iWork '09 the default. I no longer have the new versions installed on my everyday Mac & right now I can't check on another.
