Q: Match process stalling out at end

I've been using iTunes Match for about a year and a half and have started experiencing a new problem in the last couple of days.  I've added a few new tracks to my library over the last couple of days and have attempted to "Update iTunes Match." However, the matching process is stalling out at the end.  It looks like it's just about to finish but then it never does.  I have downloaded the most up-to-date version of iTunes, I have stopped and restarted the "Update iTunes Match" process numerous times.  I have closed and reopened iTunes several times.  I have restarted my computer and started over.  Etc. Etc. and the same problem keeps occurring.  Last night, I let the matching process continue overnight and it still had not finished in the morning.  I am at my wit's end at this point.  It's only 11 new songs that I'm trying to get iTunes to Match.  Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to resolve this problem?  Thanks!

    Hi,

Hold shift key on a PC when turning off match.

I have been having similar problems as others. At present all my music has been matched or uploaded now.

I have found that the automatic scan after adding tracks has not worked neither has using option to select track then add to iCloud. I have found that simply stopping scan process and selecting add to iTunes Match usually works. Adding tracks that will match is still quick but if you know that the track will upload, the process is extremely slow and sometimes stalls. I have been adding a lot of classical music where I have joined movements - up to 30 min long / 50 mb size.

    All very frustrating.

    Jim

Thanks Jim.  I did see another post earlier today where you mentioned holding the shift key (in lieu of the option key).  I tried that method tonight with no luck.

The automatic scan has not worked me for a couple of months now (I have no idea why) but that process used to be relatively quick and it is disappointing that it has not been working for me.

I've been relying on the "add to Itunes Match" method for some time now and, yes, that process takes longer but it's been the only way I've been able to get Match to work as of late.

However, none of the methods are working as of the last couple of days.

I am also having problems. iTunes Match has been a bit hit and miss for the last few weeks, but two days ago I added three tracks to my library and now match just sits at "Matching your music with songs in the iTunes Store." with three tracks not matched.  I've turned match off and on again, I've rebooted . . .

    Something must be broken somewhere

Forgive me if this isn't the same problem, but when I add a song to iTunes on my Mac, and choose "Add to iCloud", the song becomes greyed out and I can no longer play it. Also, it appears as greyed out on all of my iOS devices and I can neither play nor download it on those devices.

This has been happening to me for weeks and I've tried everything. Sometimes I can fix it temporarily, but the problem always comes back.

I think this is a subset of issue we / many of us are seeing...me included.

It really boils down to song "XYZ" being available in one place but not in all places like iTunes Match is supposed to provide with the main symptom being that iTunes Match does not want to add / upload any new non-purchased content to the cloud.

And for many of us the issue has been really bad for the last week or so and bad for weeks.

    Okay, thanks scr21.

So far it seems there aren't any workarounds, other than turning off iTunes Match?

Is it me, or did all this Match trouble start happening after the latest iTunes update?

    I'm running iTunes 11.2.2.3

I was having issues before 11.2.2 - although for about a day I thought 11.2.2 fixed the issues I was having but, alas, it did not.

    Hey smellystar.

You know I thought the same thing - that it was surely related to 11.2.2 update.

So I went through the effort this morning of finding an old copy of 11.2.1 that I had downloaded. I uninstalled 11.2.2 - rebooted - and then installed 11.2.1

However same problem happened. Match will not complete an upload.

Its possible we need to go back further to 11.1 to verify, but to me this is pointing concretely to a server issue on Apple's side.

My worry is that this is a bizzarre edge-case scenario that is only affected a relatively minor percent of users and to the Apple admins, all appears normal.

I've been experiencing the same exact problem with iTunes Match over the past few days.  No new music I add to my library is being matched.  The match process stops at the end of Step 2.  I used the link provided to send feedback to Apple.

I spoke with a Support Senior Advisor over the phone. Sent them all sorts of Diagnostics, system information, and a screenshot. I also sent her a link to this discussion. She is escalating it to Engineering. I will update you all when I hear back.

I am having pretty much the exact same issue as Ryan (except I am on a MacBookPro). A couple of months ago, both the automatic updating and even adding an individual song (by right-clicking the track and selecting "add to icloud") stopped working. I would have to click "update itunes match" to add new songs. Now, as of a few days ago, that has stopped working, too. None of the usual solutions are fixing the issue. Hope ericb50 gets some useful information from Apple. I use itunes match on an almost daily basis for work and this is incredibly frustrating.

I don't think it has anything to do with what verion of iTunes is running.  I have tried to match music on three different computers in my house, two of which are running older various versions of iTunes.  iTunes Match is not matching new music in any of these three test cases.

I will check what versions are on my other two computers but I think they go back a ways.
