Q: How to highlight the entire folder with the tag color, as before?

I've always highlighted important folders with colors, so that they stand out among others in a list for quicker access. Now in Mavericks list view, there is only a small color dot to the right of the folder's name (sometimes very far from the folder's name if the column is large). As a result, it is much harder to pick important folders. Is there any way to apply the tag color to the whole folder, as it used to be in all previous systems? Or at the very least, to move the dot to the left of the folder name within lists, as in Icon view? I really hope Apple did not remove this feature simply for the sake of design. Thanks.

Sorry, yes, I know about adding links, but I am referring to links as in bookmarks, linking within a document to another part of the same document.

"Add link" in Pages 5 only gives the option to link an email or a web page.

It was functional in Pages 4.3 but has not yet been added back in with the new Pages... One assumes it will at some stage.

There are several discussions on it around here somewhere...

    But thx for the thought.

Someone on another thread suggested this free app, XtraFinder, and it's great:

    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/42067/xtrafinder

You can add colors back to the entire name (slightly less pretty than with previous OS but good enough) of the folder in list view or icon view. As a result, colored folders and files jump at you again in list view, as they used to. XtraFinder appears to use the last tag color that was added, if you use multiple tags and may show as various colors in a sorted tag view.

You can also add colors to the sidebar, thereby removing the need for the extra extension SideEffects.

Yes please Apple Inc, can we have the old way back. It is a nightmare when you have many folders!

I agreed whole-heartedly! I hate the new tags. They are utterly useless to me. I just migrated the files from my old Mac Pro running Snow Leopard to my new Mavericks Mac, and what a shock when I saw that all my distinctive, and easy to read, coloured-labels had been converted to tiny dots.  I have always used the coloured labels to indicate progress and status of files and folders (green for finished, yellow for in progress, red for archived, etc). I'm a publisher, so keeping track of thousands of text files is critically important. My desktop looks now looks like a confused sea of folder and file lists. This will take me days to sort out. No wonder a common search thread on google is "How do I downgrade from Mavericks to Snow Leopard?"

You should look into XtraFinder, while it's not perfect it's gives colored folders which is better than dots.  I'm sure Apple would like to be able to go back to their colored folders, but I think they either forgot how to or just don't have the know how.

You can't have multiple colored folders as you can with tag dots.  That said, I was willing to do without multiple dots so I use Xtrafinder to get back my colored folders.  So far it's working for me...

I take it there is still no change with this?
This drives me nuts as I used the tag tool all the time.
Shame, this thread was started 2 & 1/2 years ago and by the looks of it Apple have done nothing to even give the option to have it the old way?!
    Still hoping this will change....

Yeah the new dots are still the only way (unless you use a third party explorer).

I miss the old coloured lables, they were actually super useful (unlike the dots).

That's just rubbish, at least give us the option to change it, most of us are responsible adults after all...
