Jun 17, 2014 6:20 AM in response to georgesfromkoyaoby georgesfromkoyao,★HelpfulAccording to Apple technician, it's probably a hardware problem... everything else works fine. But for me it is just impossible to work without a larger display.
My MacBook Pro (Retina!) was purchased 1 and a half year ago. The only choice now seems to be to buy a new mainboard. I paid 1500 euro for the laptop, the repairs will cost +/- 1000 euro. Just for a problem connecting an external display.
How can I explain it : it really, really make me furious. More than 20 years along with macs... and so many bad experiences of this kind these last years.
Apple should stop selling computers and stick to smartphones only.
Alright, I will buy next a windows based computer. Oh ! all my professionnal soft are for Mac, I will have to buy them all again...
Traped.
Unsatisfied old customer... who cares ? Nobody.

Jun 20, 2014 3:50 AM in response to georgesfromkoyaoby georgesfromkoyao,Alright, after 3 of 4 days killing my eyes on my retina display, I tried once more...
On the display windows from the preference panel, I noticed that the "detect display" button did not exist anymore...
This button appears now only when pressing the option key...
After a few tries, my external display reappeared...
How can this button shows only when pressing the option key ?
Anyhow, after that it seems to work alright, except that miroring options from the menu bar does not exist anymore...
Would someone around tell me what's up ? Is it a bug in the last OS, or a corrupted update... have no clue, and I now wonder when the problem will happen again.
