Q: MacBook Air 2013 Windows 7 freezes during installation

I did that option before, and it was working. But my problem now is I'm following this guy's steps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGPO9-7dJZA and he does not use bootcamp to install Windows. His keyboard & mouse is working during the installation, but mine's not. Is it my Windows problem or my USB problem? Just let me know if u have any ideas. Don't worry, I still have Windows 7 installed through bootcamp because I need to use it for some of my programs atm.

My specs:

MBA 13' Mid 13, running OS X Mountain Lion, fully updated

128GB ,4GB of RAM

My goal     : Removing Mac and install Windows completely.

My problem: Keyboard & mouse does not work when install Win 7 manually

Sounds like your just missing the drivers for your Keyboard & Mouse.

Try Googling the drivers for your model!

No need for fancy tricks at all just make sure you put the usb you are putting the drivers on in the left usb port and make sure it is a usb 2.0 and it will all work fine.

Having this problem with an external CD/DVD drive, and windows 7 professional. I think what happens is the computer loses the abiltiy to read the external disk drive halfway through Expanding windows files (65% for me). Any WORKABLE solutions?

First erase any history of trying to install windows.....that means use boot camp or disk utility to delete any windows partitions that you may have created.

Now restart your laptop

1)download a windows 7 iso from here:

(This is a legit copy of ultimate from the Microsoft website)

2) start bootcamp and when it asks you what you want to do, check the first two options (create windows 7 install disk and download support media)

let it work...once it is done then quit bootcamp COMPLETELY.

3) start bootcamp again and this time select install support media to the same usb drive

let it work and then quit bootcamp COMPLETELY.

4) start bootcamp and this time select install windows 7. bootcamp will automatically restart your computer into windows setup. From there continue on like normal.

you have to let bootcamp restart your computer (you can't close bootcamp and then restart from the menu yourself...you must let bootcamp do the restart)

your usb drive shouldn't come out of your computer during any of these steps.

This might be useless, but I'd like to post, very simply, how I fixed the problems. It is or it is very close to solutions given before, but still.
If at least one person benefits from this post it will be worth it.

1- I did not use a USB flash drive. I used a 1to ss external hard drive.

2- after setting up the bootcamp installation( all 3 tickboxes ticked) , once the wizard asks for partitions, I quit, and re downloaded the drivers onto the disk. (tickbox 2 only )

3- I restarted the bootcamp installation 3rd tickbox only.

Then it worked.

This probably has to do with the fact that it is an apple keyboard/mouse which drivers aren't currently installed on Windows.

Try resetting the PRAM if not buy one of those external powered USB hub connect the keyboard and mouse that should solve the problem. Spent a day on that.

Ok, Its very easy to solve.

-Problem: MacBook,MacBook Air brings USB3.0 and windows 7 does not recconize Usb3.0 natively.

-Is USB 3 supported by Boot Camp 5.1?

1- Make sure Correct Version of BootCamp for your MacBook

2- After BootCamp assistant finish , copy these files/folders

Partition : WININSTALL

2.1- Check this folder: $WinPEDriver$

and subfolder: "IntelxHCISetup" MUST BE COPIED.

2.2 Remove this folder : "AppleSSD64"

And Done.

Obs: IntelxHCISetup on BootCamp 5.1

Remove All Bootcamp Partitions.
