Q: AppleWorks File Structure incompatible with OS X Server?

Hi all,

Sorry I don't use AppleWorks applications that much mainly because with every update it seems to be less and less possible to use it...

Call me old school but I find programs that don't have a Save as function a bit storage.

Well here the problem, maybe I just did not understand how its supposed to work.

I have a small company with ca. 12 workstations (All Mac). And we share files through a OS X SERver hosted on a Mac Mini. It works very well for all applications except AppleWorks. If I save a file on the server, no other computer can open and save that file without creating a copy of the file (Which is a bit complicated when 5 people are supposed to be able to access the file. And even when I am on the computer that created the file it comes up with an error message the versioning is not supported on the drive that the file is stored on (Quite frankly I don't care much about Versioning, I just don't want the messages to appear.

My Idea was to get away from Excel and word, but at the moment that seems impossible with AppleWorks, We have over 850 projects on the server with each at least 20-30 documents attached, so storing those on iCloud is out of the question, because I would not know how to find them, since there are no Folders on iCloud.

Did I miss something? Should I change some settings somewhere or is AppleWorks just not made for team work and is incompatible with Mac OS X Server?

All versions of the operating systems and AppleWorks are up to date.

Can anybody help?
