Q: Trouble installing Windows 8.1 with Boot Camp

I'm having an issue installing Windows 8.1 under Boot Camp on one of the new MacBook Pros (late 2013).  After sever troubles (and not a few tribulations) fighting with the stupid Windows installer program (couldn't Microsoft just let me download a freakin' ISO?) I got the installer running after creating the partition, but at the end of the Windows install, I get:

Windows could not update the computer's boot configuration. Installation cannot proceed.

Googling around for a solution I found several references to UEFI problems, along with a couple different procedures that were claimed to work.  Unfortunately, these procedures were pretty lengthy and require several third party tools -- and I'm not positive they're even applicable because none of them dealt with the newest model of MacBook Pro.

So, can anyone out there point me towards a procedure that's known to work with the new models?

Thanks.

    Heloo Abu_Saeid;

    I, tried this;

    I, have a link from microsft and when i click on it I diercts me to wndows 8 installation and as it processes it then ask me whicn to choose betwenn windows 8.1 installation or creation of an ISO file, so I choose creation of an ISO file, and ever since, this is how I create an ISO file. NOTE; I chatted with an apple online and guess whtat after many chatts with them maybe over 10 chats with different people and finally they refer me to a sinior consulatant, he asked my location and I answered him "Saudi Arabia". Then he stopped seeking any furhter soulution and he directed me to Saudi Arabia support. I try that one but no clear diection to it as I hit a dead wall.

    Did you show the directory of the ISO to BootCamp correctly? If you did, give another try to download the Windows 8.1 ISO from Microsoft? Your procedure sounds OK, and I also followed the same way. You know support teams are not aways helpful in some cases. One info to mention, UPDATE your Mac before using Bootcamp!

    Could you please refrase the script of "DID YOU SOW THE DIRECTORY OF THE ISO TO BOOTCAMP CORRECTLY".I, have no power on this as correclty mounted an ISO file in DVD cd and then start Bootcamp Assistance, the correct procadure is my mac would see an ISO file mounted in the DVD Cd and this where my problme is.

    I spent all day on this. This is what finally worked. Some steps might be repetitive but honestly after hours of getting that error and this finally producing results I can't complain. Thank you and turbostar.

    AWESOME!!!! your solution works just great. I have finally got it working after 3 days of suffer. Advice for others: Please pay attention that in 4th step you need to boot into RECOVERY OS X (  command + R combination during startup)

    BIG THANKS!!!!!

    Thank you so much for your incredible work Now it finally worked! But what I did in addition to your guide was to remove all external devices (except the usb-install device of course). This solved the problem, that windows couldnt create its little helper partitions because my external hdds obviously needed to much space in the efi partition...
