Q: Where is the 'My Stuff' section

Something has changed in this support page layout and it no longer includes 'My Stuff' where I could use the link to to see my own discussions, all I can see now is:-  'New' 'Activity'  'Content'  'People' and 'Search'.  I want to see any updates to my own personal posts but there is no longer a link to find these.  If I get any replies to this post where will I look for it?

Why does Apple make these changes, which so often make things so much more difficult to use?

    Try these two links:

makey - threads you've started, with updated threads in bold

makey - threads you've participated in, with updated threads in bold

When viewing a community area you can add /content onto the URL to get additional display options. Clicking discussions gives the layout with read/unread highlighting.

Thank you for your reply, and the information you gave me.

I still wonder why Apple had to change a perfectly familiar layout, which I was used to using, and make it more complicated as it is now.  All this sorts of change must be very frustrating for people with businesses, who are extremely busy and little time to sort out these changes.

    You're welcome.

The forum software comes from a third party. I think the previous version was starting to crumble under the load, so something had to be done. This is something. Hopefully there will be some improvements over the next few weeks...

They had to make sure the support forums were as broken as the ProApps.

    tt2,

You are  most certainly welcome. Me too. Many companies would just weather the storm, though.

Condolences on your boyz World Cup. Kind of surprising judging from their qualifying record. On any day, I suppose.

We don't have much expertise/experience in common - i[Stuff] are just devices to me. Macs too for that matter. Windows I unfortunately have some experience with since I once ran a support group for a WinBasedSoftware product.

Ill look in on you every once in a while though.

    Good afternoon

I must be dense, but I don't understand turing's link answer to make.  Please tell me how to view "my stuff."  Thank you.

Hi Robert, those were early days while I was still exploring the new system myself and I made custom links to makey's content.

These generic links work for any user, the first three will highlight threads with new activity:

    Authored Discussions

    Participated Discussions

    Following Discussions

    Recently Viewed Discussions

This Site map of Communities and Categories has similar "discussions" style links (with activity highlighting) for easy bookmarking of any area of the site you want to review frequently.

I rarely use the SITEMAP as I have individual BrowserBookmarks for the 4 Magic Twangers

I see that at some point you added " ... similar "discussions" style links (with activity highlighting) for easy bookmarking ... "

As I went to it and was going to look around to see how that worked for ME, I got sidetracked wondering when this feature was appeared in versioning so I clicked to see the "/diff"

Tiring of going back thru versions, I abandoned the exercise and returned to the SITEMAP to resume my original curiosity. Scrolled all the way thru and saw no indication of  " ...similar "discussions" style links (with activity highlighting) for easy bookmarking ... " - raising the question in my mind, "Does the 'activity' mean since I last visited the SITEMAP  or since I last visited a Community? " - I think my question is pre-answered by the fact that I saw no highlighting of any kind. Maybe I need new optics as previously suggested?

Handy "not to be confused with" commenting too. To wit:

On this one, did you actually mean  newer ... pre 2004 IS OS 9. 8, 7, ... is it not?

    Classic Mac OS (OS9, OS8 & System 7)

note unless you are running Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Classic, or use a Mac older than 2004 you likely need to be posting to one of the Mac OS X forums above.

Your volunteer work here may get you into Heaven. I hope you have work that pays... seems like you much time on your hands

When viewing in the /content > discussions layout, threads that are new to you or have been updated since you last visited them will be highlighted in bold. The effect is not that marked so some of the regulars like myself have taken to using custom CSS to add emphasis (mine makes new/updated threads an unmissable pink!). I'm pretty sure you've seen some of those CSS threads. I was originally thinking the site map had outlived its usefulness since it was created for a previous restructure of the site but having seen the number of clicks or manual tweaks to the URL required to get to a more useful (subjective I know) view of, say, Using Apple Support Communities I decided to revamp it instead. a brody has recently added a few hints that could help some people work out which fora are likely to be more appropriate for certain topics which are often misplaced.

I am pretty sure I misunderstood the statement that I quoted. It seemed that it was in the context of viewing the SITEMAP ?? I read you responding in the context of your 4 Magic Twanger links?? I am satisfied without the PINK but that sounds definitely cool

One thing I have just discovered that seems cool at first blush is rolling over your   Using Apple Support Communities link I get a BUBBLE window  that looks like this right now

    Picture 1.png

However, I kind of expected the results to match a currently reloaded Using ASC page that looks thus:

    Picture 2.png

As you can see, not even close... but why my overly curious mind asks - shoot, I just discovered this feature... Probably won't avail myself of it that often... .... ...

Is the Bubble window what you refer to in SITEMAP? I assume that each Forum & category link will do likewise in SITEMAP?

The pop-up bubbles seem to be a somewhat laggy snapshot of recent topics in an area.

    Compare these two views:

Guess which thread I've read. In this view I can see which threads are new/updated, how many replies there have been, bookmarks and likes. For those that do the following thing the little cog does that too. In the previous incarnation we could see both the original poster and who replied last which gave a little more information on where to usefully spend one's time. The left-hand column also has the category filters which narrow down the content in different fora which you don't get to see in the normal view.

Should you be interested in pink, or any other colour, for the bold text I just use this one line in an add-on to Chrome called Stylish.
