Jan 21, 2014 10:05 AM in response to hotkeyz69by Alflategan,My pages and keynote is terribly slow after upgrading to ios 7. Latest version 3.
Highlighting is hopeless and intensely frustrating.
Keynote shows the incorrect information on the list of small slides. It does not correspond to the main slide.
For instance, after completion of the slide, the small slides would still show the original template stating a heading such as "ipsom lorum dolor". In addition to this it is also really slow. I used to do quick preparations of presentations on this because it was practical and fast. Now id rather do it on a PC and have coffee in the time I've saved.
The same holds for Pages. Im a Vet and writes daily clinical reports using Pages out in the field. It so slow now that its better to save the frustration and write the reports at night on a pc. After a few months Im seriously considering switching to Android next time round.
If there is hope for these products Ill hang in there for a little while. Id appreciate a response from Apple in this regard.
It also seems to crash/hang more frequently and the dictate option is no longer available. Tapping with two fingers does not seem to produce the desired effect.
If the issue is one of memory, then Ios 7 is using it all as ive made sure nothing else is running.
Greetings

Jan 21, 2014 10:34 PM in response to hotkeyz69by hotkeyz69,Hi Alflategan, my problem existed only on my iMac and not my iPad where Pages works perfectly. Can I suggest the issue might be with your iPad rather than with Pages or Keynote? Especially if you say there are no other apps running. Try posting in the iPad forum for more focussed feedback. In the mean time I would suggest removing and reinstalling the problem apps, and possibly restoring your iPad from backup through iTunes. Best of luck.

Jun 27, 2014 10:22 PM in response to hotkeyz69by delventhalz,Hey hotkeys69, I've been having speed troubles with Pages 5 as well. A different user suggested that the new version was the problem, and that Pages '09 was much speedier. I decided to do a speed test to try and get the bottom of it. If you want to see the results they're in the link below, but long story short, Pages '09 is WAY faster. If you are editing a document of any complexity in Pages 5 it gets bogged down and can't perform the simplest of tasks without long delays. I recommend working in Pages '09 for all but the most basic documents until this gets fixed.

Sep 23, 2014 10:17 PM in response to hotkeyz69by Ericlaughs,Hey guys so i was having the same exact problem which which is what brought me here and the solution is to just go to the Pages tab in settings and uncheck the iCloud option because what's slowing it down is that every time you make any change to the document it is saved back into iCloud! I did it and now my typing in Pages is just as fast as any other app!
Hope this helps

Oct 9, 2014 10:12 AM in response to hotkeyz69by linda stasi,IOS8 is a Pages disaster! how could they release a program in beta??? I'm an author in the middle of a book and it's a nightmare. if you type in the beta version, it's all smashed together and most of the editing tools don't work PLUS it doesn't automatically go across all platforms. therefore for continuing work on any document, you have to work on the original PAGES, copy and past whatever you've written onto the beta pages in order to have it saved on other platforms. if steve jobs weren't already dead, he'd be turning in his grave. there is no way to fix it until as the apple tech told me, they release a new version, "sometime in the fall." what? A FLAT OUT DISGRACE FOR APPLE.

Nov 10, 2014 11:20 AM in response to linda stasiby Acadwell,I am having the same issue. I just did the latest version update this weekend 11/08/14. In one document I have over 40,000 words written, and the document is very very slow when I try to continue writing. I opened up a new document to test my theory and it and it is fine. Pages is still having issues when it comes to large document sizes. I hope they get it fixed soon!!

Nov 10, 2014 11:26 AM in response to hotkeyz69by linda stasi, they took a perfect word application and made it a clunky mess that does and does not half the time navigate to other devices. as an author working on a sequel to my novel, it's been nothing short of a perfect storm. shame on apple and if anyone figures out how to get it back up to the original speed and functionality, it would be most appreciated.

Nov 11, 2014 11:06 AM in response to Acadwellby Magnus Lewan,Having problems with large documents is not specific to Pages. Many word processors have had that problem during the years. Hopefully Apple will fix it one day, but in the mean time I fear the workaround is to split the document into smaller files.
I just tried Microsoft Word for iOS and it was shockingly slow with even small documents. As far as I understand Google Docs can also have performance problems with big documents.
