I really don't appreciate the fact that your "application" demands that I enter my password to "uninstall" it.

The uninstaller, like "Genieo" itself, is a scam. It doesn't work. The developer is a liar. To remove Genieo, follow the instructions I posted above.

Donald, those instructions are bad. They recommend use of the uninstaller, which is proven not to actually work, leaving behind components that are running actively in the background. Please do not refer people to these instructions in the future! The only instructions that I have ever seen that work properly are Linc's directions, posted frequently on these forums, and mine, found here:

I downloaded something yesterday... and all of a sudden, Genieo was activated and on my MacBook Pro. First, I used MacKeeper to uninstall it. But it still was doing its thing... Then, I found and ran the Uninstall Genieo... and "supposedly" that worked, but it didn't.

I can type in something for which I want to search in the top area where one enters the URL to which he wants to visit... doing that used to use Google to search... and it still says that Google will do my search, but when the search is done, the blasted Genieo page is up with search results.

This really *****. Any company that invades someone's computer and cannot be easily deleted or uninstalled is beyond acceptable in any community.  I used Ad Block, but if I pause that and come up with some advertisements, I am going to contact the advertisers and tell them how Geneio popped up their ad, how it is annoying people, and that I will never use their product or service because of Geneio. Let THEM help me get Geneio to back off their invasive spyware.

Genieo was activated and on my MacBook Pro. First, I used MacKeeper to uninstall it.

That's like trying to treat the flu with a dose of E. Coli. MacKeeper is just as bad as Genieo, or worse!

Uninstall MacKeeper immediately. It is currently the subject of two separate class-action lawsuits alleging fraud, and provides no useful functions.

    Hi JaneWillis,

I'm just going to remind you that Genio are a deceptive organization, deception got their crap onto your Mac. Please do not be tempted to download and use their uninstaller and suffer more deception and it's attendant problems.

Do not believe anything they tell you.

    I'snt Geneio a scam?

    I don't recommend trusing them.

U should find out about them

Softionic attemptes to hack in Genio so stay away from that too.

Also i think yosimite forces out geneio from them cause i think that apple thinks they are a threat witch i agree, it completely took over this laptop... untill yoseminte kicked it out. (hurray for apple!)

Geneio Support, your app gets blocked my virus protectors! Serously!

    Genio Support:

The behavior you describe is not Genieo related.

Does Genieo exist in your application folder?

    Is your home page search.genieo.com?

If the answer is no, then Genieo is not on your computer.

If the answer is Yes, than you did not followed all instructions we provided.

Please provide a screen shot of what you think is Genieo on your computer and I'll do my best to help you remove it.

    ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

I don't think even if you help mgr5027 your going to remove everything.

You might just direct mgr5027 to ad removal / crash mgr5027's mac or leave something behind like location following or make her delete a file that will restore itself unless another file is deleted.

Genieo might not me in your app folder but hidden in your libary/application support

You can change your homepage but it will set itself back when genieo boots itself on for a fraction of a second and might be one of the ovious things that genieo uninstalls so people don't get too suspicious.

If the answer is no, genieo is still on your computer.

I found a workflow that genieo created recently that trys to reinstall it after yosemithe gets rid of it. (im not sure it works but find a way to remove that safely.

    The file is "GenieoExtra.workflow"

If the answer is yes, Genieo is not being a stealth spy, its being a spy in your face!

Thats all i can say right now but i hope this helps a little.

    (and Genieo needs to stop)

(EAT FIST GENIEO WE FOUND YOU OUT, BOOM!)
