Q: iMessage wont work on my ipod touch!

Anyone else having a problem with iMessage? So far everything else seems ok. I have tried several times to log in and eventually get a error message saying "PLEASE CHECK YOUR NETWORK CONNECTION AND TRY AGAIN LATER". There is no problem with my network connection and I've been online on several websites which appear to be working correctly. I have also checked in settings to turn ON iMessage but when I click on settings and then Messages, there is only the sign up fields, no activation buttons to slide across etc. Anyone out there with some help?

Was having trouble signing into imessage after the latest ISO 7.1.2 update. go to settings > general > date & time> here make sure the "set automatically" option is turned on.

, Your suggestion was made over two years ago in this discussion.

If you go to Settings>General>Time&Date is it set to Automatic?

Brilliant! This worked perfectly for us. My son changed the date on his iPod to try to trick a game into allowing him to continue playing and never changed it back!!

Thanks for the fix. Who cares if you made the suggestion 2 yrs ago. It's still relevant today.

Heh, I wish that was my case... My iPod 5th gen usually goes down with iMessage for an hour or two but today, (or yesterday, to be technical) It stopped sending iMessages for everyone, it'll get to the 90% "sending" logo and then sit there until "message failure." Now, usually the above methods work, I've tried the DNS settings, checking to see if it's the right date, different wifi, switching subject field off, restarting it, resetting network, restoring iPod, automatic timezone, anything that was listed I tried. (Been hunting the internet for solutions for the past couple days. Finally decided to post about it.) Usually resetting my network a few times brings it back or sometimes it goes back by itself but it's been doing this for over 24 hours now and I'm kinda paranoid lol, if there's any more suggestions besides buy a new iPod because I'm completely broke and tired of buying newer Apple products just to keep up with everything going on I'd be glad to have them thrown my way, thanks.
