Q: Playlists won't sync to my iPhone 5!

I've never had this issue before but every so often I like to manually sync my iPhone with iTunes on my MacBook. I created a load of new playlists on my iTunes because I find it easier to create playlists on a laptop but they won't sync to my iPhone.

The way I sync it is just with playlists so I have a smart playlist of all the checked songs (because I don't want my entire library on a 64 gig phone) and then I just check any additional playlists I want on it then sync and it's worked fine up until now.

All software is up to date, as is iTunes.

iPhone 5, iOS 7.0.3

I had this issue, and worked on it for a few days. I tried all of the advice on these discussions as well as other websites. What finally worked for me as far as i can tell was to turn on my Itunes Match on both my phone AND my computer. Once I turned it on my computer, I turned it off and back on on my phone, and BAM! there they were!

Hey i just figured it out turn off your iphone sync over wifi and  make sure you have gone to the music tab and clicked sync all music. once that full sync starts let it put all the music on your phone. once this is done your playlists wont show up however if you now click manually manage music, start the sync for about 20 seconds cancel the sync and unclick manually manage music. then resync it worked for me!

I hope this helps other people. I went to Settings, then Music on my phone. I turned OFF iTunes Match, then turned it on again — iTunes very quickly synced and now my playlists appear on my iPhone 5c. I had the phone connected to my computer the whole time, with iTunes open. No idea if that helped over not. I'm just HAPPY I can now see my playlists the same as they appear in my iTunes music library.

Thank you, Br1nkley! After restoring my iPhone twice and having it not fix the problem, your simple "check" fixed everything!

This worked for me.   Thanks Yukon819.

"Go to your iphone in itunes and then to music...uncheck "Sync Music" then apply.  Then recheck "Sync Music" and then apply and it should start working as it should like mine did.  I was having the same issue as you and now everything is back to normal and music is syncing properly."

Ok folks I think I may have figured this out.  First of all I'd recommend upgrading the OS on both the phone and your home base computer.  Second, make sure you have all of the sync stuff turned on as documented over and over and over again in this thread.  Third, and this is the most important part, go to the "more" section on your iPhone and click on "Shared" and the music Library on your home base computer should show up; click on it and then and only then will your Playlists show up...at least that's what I had to do.  Hope this helps.

Oh and one other thing I just learned today...in order to get the "Shared" link to show up you have to have your iPhone connect to your home base wi-fi and you probably have to have all this music sharing stuff turned on as well.  But once the playlists sync it seems to stick just don't understand why this stuff doesn't beam thru the cloud.  Very frustrating Apple...you folks need to fix this.

i enabled home sharing on itunes on my comp, then enabled it on my phone, then under music  on phone click ... (more) then shared and select your library name on your home comp.  then it sync up.  someone else may have suggested this...didnt read thru all the posts but this worked for me

problem i have is that i have more music on my laptop than will fit on my phone, so if i check 'sync music', it will remove what i have on there now, then when i uncheck it will i have to 'start again'?

if it helps to diagnose the problem, i seem to have lost most/ all of the artist pictures on my phone. album artwork is still there in some cases but not the picture when you're viewing artists

    Open iTunes

    Connect your phone

click on Music icon in upper left

click on playlist, left panel under Playlists, that you want to copy to your phone

drag that playlist up to your phone under Devices, still on left panel, and put in in Music

sync starts automatically and your Playlist will be on your phone!!!
