It is a garth brooks collection, Blame it on my roots". They are music CDs. Not sure if copy protected but when inserted into my Mac it is sent back out after about 30 seconds.

Jul 11, 2014 9:59 AM in response to pirates4ever2by lllaass,Does it read/play other music CDs?
I had a 2009 Mac Mini and last year after the HD failed I found out that my optical drive no longer worked, same symptom as yours, I really never used it recently. After much troubleshooting I concluded that it just failed. That happens with the slot SuperDrive (if you have one).
Try:

BTW, this is the Mac Pro desktop forum since I am not sure y have the a desktop.

Jul 11, 2014 10:32 AM in response to Grant Bennet-Alderby pirates4ever2,Bought the CDs. Just hooked up an external cd drive and it is now copying. Looks like I need to trade in this Mac Pro for a new one, been thinking about this anyway. Thanks for you help and info on this.

It may not be necessary to get rid of the Mac Pro because of a wonky Optical drive. The DVD drive is easy and inexpensive to replace. The problem is most likely limited to the drive itself and not to do with the rest of the machine.
Or, your Mac Pro simply dislikes Garth Brooks.
Mine will have nothing to do with my Don Ho collection.
