Q: Macbook Air - Intermittently Charging , Now not at all

Hello and sorry to hear about your charging issues.  I was having the exact same issue only mine was intermittent charging on my 2011 Macbook Pro.  I bought it last month used since I am waiting for the new MacBooks to come out this fall before I buy new but I did need a laptop ASAP.  So the charger was charging fine up till about 20 percent then after 20 percent it was charge then quickly cut out (the lightning bolt in the battery icon would go away and since my energy saving prefs are set to dim when not connected to AC the screen would dim every time it went out).  I read many post on Apple web site saying it was the battery or the Logic Board and was getting very nervous. Do not pay attention to these post. Please go out and guy yourself a new APPLE MAG SAFE 85W adapter. My macbook came with a 65 watt adapter but you can use a 85 watt on a 65w. The macbook (air or pro) will know how much power to pull out of the adapter so there is no reason to buy the 65W for MacBooks made after 2010. For MacBooks made before that I would stick with the wattage that the notebook was shipped with. Anyway, after buying the new power plug I have had no problems.  I have since spoke with a few people with similar intermittent charging issues and it is always turning out the be the adapter. If your battery charges to 100 percent and when not plugged in still holds a good charge then it is the adapter.  If it does not charge full and if it does and looses power real quickly it is the battery, and if it will not take a charge even with a new adapter and after resetting the SMC as described in the below link then it is the Logic Board.  Best of luck. i tried everything suggested here on my eightmonth old MBA, Hot air dryer, unplug , replug, SMC reset, nothing will make my charger fire up.  it supplies power, but the battery will not charge. off to apple we go!!!

Ironically this works for me after I hold the white brick in my hand for about 2 minutes. Before that the charging part is not working at all.

My MBP is late 2010 13".

Kind of frustrating although mine is already 4 years old.

Hopefully it would continue working since the hardware is good enough after I got the 10G RAM as well as the SSD upgrade. 

I 'm having the exact
same issue with my MAB. I left for 5 minutes the power adapter in the sun
(GREECE- its hot here!! ) and it Works fine now.

Before I do that, I changed
the power adaptor with my partner’s , who has the same MAB. His adapter worked
fine with my airbook but mine didn’t charged his airbook also.

So the problem is at the
adaptor and not the computer. A material in the adapter, like a temperature
registor (if there is any or something like that) might be the problem. A
problem that shouldn’t exist at apples products!!!! 

I'm having the same issue with my early-14 Macbook Air, I'll plug it in and it will happily charge as normal for about 3 or 4 minutes and then stop altogether, then I'll unplug and plug in again and the same happens. It's getting really annoying now, especially as I've had it only since september and got a uni deadline on Friday... Will have to go to the Apple store this weekend - grr!

if you use a 65W magsafe try using 85W.. I  have both chargers but my 85W doesnt work anymore. so whenever my 65W stops charging, i unplug and then plug in my 85W. and when i plug in my 65W it works fine again. my mbp only stops charging when ever i plug and unplug my charger constantly from power supply.if otherwise, it takes a month to go off .
