Jul 4, 2014 11:47 AM in response to deebrownby windowsucks,I've been wresting with this issue for a while to the point I stopped using Apple TV. I came across
an apple page that suggested plugging an Ethernet cable directly to the router. I know that kind of defeats
the purpose but it's seemed to work and fortunately my router is close enough.
Hopefully this helps.

Jul 7, 2014 4:22 AM in response to windowsucksby whitewave081175,Thanks to those who suggested a router channel change. Mine already had a fixed channel but as soon as I tried a different channel the Air Play symbol popped up. Cross fingers it stays but there are 12 more channels to try if not!

Jul 15, 2014 8:01 PM in response to whitewave081175by BARTVON,Wifi router channel change fixed everything for me - works perfect now. Was dropping out horribly before. I downloaded some wifi sniffing software and learned I live in a very densely packed wifi signal area, and my router was using the same channel as dozens of other routers. I simply forced my router to use a channel that nobody else was using - instead of the default setting of auto channel selection - traffic jam solved.

Jul 20, 2014 1:33 AM in response to deebrownby nolltre,Same problem here.
Nothing to do with network or source since iPad Gen 1 running iOS 5 can play exactly same source (Spotify) over the same network without any glitches. Playing on iPad 4 (iOS 7) manages maximium 2-3 minutes before dropping and having to manually reconnect.
Does not seem to be problem with Apple TV either since exactly same behaviour using built in airplay on Pioneer VSX-2021 (works for iPad 1 bur kot iPad 4).
Please note that a workaround using fixed wifi channels or similar that solves the problem for someone is not an indication that it is a network issue. If an iPad 1 can handle non fixed wifi channels or any other setup an iPad 4 should also he able to handle it. However since Apple seems to ignore this issue any workaround is of course interesting.

Sep 1, 2014 8:23 PM in response to Jonnypz4by djluis2k7,I'm having the same problem as well with an iPad mini, but not an iPod touch, both running iOS 7.

Sep 3, 2014 12:01 PM in response to deebrownby aPexH,Apple is still silent. It seems to me they didn't even test Airplay on iOS 7. The connection issues are constant. It's clearly a bug that has been ignored for far too long. Really a shame to watch issues like this become more and more common with Apple. I miss the days of Steve.

Sep 5, 2014 10:25 AM in response to deebrownby RichS.SBU,Same issue here - been testing / streaming with airplay and ios 6 for a while. No issues whatsoever. Updated to ios 7 a short time ago, now airplay craps out every 2-3 minutes.

Oct 5, 2014 1:52 PM in response to RichS.SBUby HelgeKreutz,I have upgraded my iPads to IOS 8.0.2, the Apple TV is also updated, and now there is the same problem of dropouts every 5-10 minutes. Happens on the iPad and on the iPad mini. Wish I would have left everything as it was.
The dropouts are in airplay, the internet line is monitored and now stable. Apple TV and airport extreme and iPads are around 2 years old, the Apple TV is hanging on an airport express of similar age. All devices are at least 2 meter apart so there should not be any proximity problem.
I will go through the suggested causes such as switching extender on and off and checking serial numbers, but I'm not very hopeful since everything was fine on airplay until now.
Soooo frustrating as it was only recently that the internet dropouts were sorted out!

Nov 5, 2014 3:52 PM in response to Hassertby Leonard Barshack,There is a know issue with some Apple TVs. This was mentioned in prior posts. I suspect this is the problem for me. Call apple and get a replacement Apple TV if your serial number fits the criteria. While redundant, I post a link to an article on MacRumors.com

Jan 5, 2015 8:03 PM in response to andyrew-cork-45by Acarapella,I Just wanted to say, I logged into my router and set it to onw channel instead of auto, and the issue appears to be gone.
its been the trend for the last year or two that things, apple and non apple, technology and other have been going backward in progress. In 2010 when I got my Apple TV and I had my iPhone 4 And my mid 2009 MacBook, every thing was perfect. The 2007 Camry I had then was problem free. I can't say that about my stuff now (same Apple tv and Mac book but new software). That goes for the 2010 Camry I iust got rid of.
IT seems like with more options comes more problems.
Point being: the router setting appeared to have fixed the Issue. But why did the issue start out of no where when I've had the same router, apple tv, macbook, and television and working together for at least 4.5 years?

Jan 6, 2015 2:19 PM in response to deebrownby GongShowNB,I solved this problem by not allowing my iPad to go to the lock screen. As long as the screen stays on with the app in the foreground, I'm not disconnected.

Jan 13, 2015 10:07 PM in response to windowsucksby thebigadski,I've been experiencing serious dropouts from both my macbook pro & iphone 5s.
My Atv is hard wired to the modem via ethernet as well - has been since day 1.
Its almost impossible to stream anything via the macbook without constant drop outs.
The iphone is a little better but some days it's so frustrating I want to throw the p of cr3p in the bin! More common on the iphone if you are attempting multitasking!
Has anyone got a REAL solution yet?
