Jul 20, 2014 6:34 PM in response to stephenhisby The Art Of Sound,Both Mavericks and Logic Pro X place a much greater load on the system so it's not unusual for those running Macs that are 'Marginal' in terms of CPU and Graphic Power... to show such issues after upgrading... from LP9.
A 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo is what I would call "marginal' nowadays....
Additional: You may find the following link of some help in such situations...

Personally, I'd go back to Snow Leopard (v10.6.8) and Logic Pro 9 (v9.1.5)... on your system drive..
This is still the optimal combo of OS X and LP versions...in many user's opinions, my own included. to obtain the best Logic performance overall given your hardware... and run Mavericks off of a fast 7200rpm external FW800 HD if you need some of it's functionality (like iCloud etc) or vice versa and run SL and LP9 off of a fast 7200rpm external FW800 HD leaving Mavericks on your System drive.
