Jul 21, 2014 7:02 AM in response to Bjhesseby Demo,For the Check Network Connection problem with FaceTime, try these suggestions in this order.
Check Settings>General>Date & Time>Set Automatically>On. Make sure that the time zone setting is also set correctly.
If that didn't solve the problem, restart your iPad and try again. If that fails, reset your iPad and try again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

You can turn both apps off in the settings, reset the iPad, turn the apps back on again and then try them both again. That would constitute, "canceling and reloading" as you put it.
Settings>FaceTime (or Message)s>Off. Reset the iPad like I described above and then turn them both on in the settings again.

Jul 21, 2014 9:53 AM in response to Bjhesseby Demo,Did Apple Support suggest resetting all settings? If you do this, you have to enter all of the device preferred settings again. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the iPad settings again.
Settings> General> Reset> Reset all settings.
IF you are only having problems with these apps using your home WiFi network, have you tried rebooting your router? Unplug it from power for about 30 seconds to reset it. Plug it back in again.
