Jul 28, 2014 6:02 AM in response to lacassbby léonie,No, you need to get your own drive. Your drive needs to be formatted MacOS Extended (Journaled), if you do not want to risk a corruption of your Aperture library, and a PC cannot read disks with this format.
see this: Format external drives to Mac OS Extended before using with Aperture

Jul 28, 2014 6:44 AM in response to lacassbby Lanny,May be possible, but only if your husband's drive is formatted as a ExFAT drive (not likely, unless he reformats it).
You should get your own external drive.

The Finder can read data on such a drive, but photo libraries (Aperture, iPhoto) are unsupported. The internal database links and pathnames can be become corrupted. See the link in my previous post.

Jul 28, 2014 7:19 AM in response to léonieby Lanny,Your link references FAT, as in FAT32, drives, but I had read elsewhere that ExFAT is a workable possibility (I said, "May be," too).
Update: After further research, I can't find what I read elsewhere. I stand corrected.
However, I agree with your recommendation that the OP should get his/her own external drive.

Jul 28, 2014 7:43 AM in response to Lannyby léonie,All Apple documents say the format has to be MacOS Extended (Journaled), like the title of the document I linked to. FAT 32 is just an example.
Here is another Apple document:
Use locally mounted Mac OS X Extended volumes for your Aperture library
Aperture libraries stored on non-Mac OS X Extended volumes may behave unpredictably.

Jul 28, 2014 9:36 AM in response to lacassbby lacassb,Thanks Leonie and Lanny. I will just get my own drive, probably a lot easier than reformatting, possible corruption and any other troubles. I wish my hubby just had gotten a mac in the first place, since he uses mine more than his own anywa!!
