Jul 28, 2014 4:09 PM in response to jdoty58by VikingOSX,The latest Canon Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X as of 8 May 2014 do not provide a driver entry for the PIXMA IP4200. They do provide support for the IP4300, and you may wish to substitute this driver for your IP4200, as the 4300 is also a USB2 device.

Jul 28, 2014 6:20 PM in response to jdoty58by PAHU,If the suggestion of using the iP4300 driver does not work, and this could happen due to model identification, then you can use Gutenprint, which supports the iP4200.

Nov 28, 2014 5:50 AM in response to PAHUby Crispian,Indeed Gutenprint v5.2.10 with Mac OSX 10.9.5 works fine.
Another case of Canon ripping people off. Thankyou GutenPrint.

Feb 14, 2015 6:28 AM in response to Crispianby minidisco72,Gutenprint allows printing in the PIXMA iP4200, it's true, but there are no options for checking ink levels, calibrating print heads, or doing any type of maintenance or service on the machine anymore. And on the printing, it has 12 sub-levels of "fine tuning" but messing with any one of them results in printing an all-black sheet (wasting 1/5 of the black tank) so the only option left for print adjustments is "fast normal". Everything else doesn't work.
I don't know if this is a Canon issue, or another massive Apple ****-up with this new operating system.

Mar 31, 2015 9:37 PM in response to jdoty58by g.rocket,Canon has a driver available from their website. They say it only works up to Mac OS 10.7, but it works fine for me on 10.10.

Jul 2, 2015 3:30 PM in response to g.rocketby Kurisuteina,This worked for me. Thanks!
I had to do the same thing to get an "old" Canon scanner to work with Mavericks and Yosemite (on another computer).
I wish Canon would just make the new drivers or indicate that the 10.7 drivers would work (at least for my needs) for OS 10.9 and 10.10.

Jan 13, 2016 8:54 AM in response to g.rocketby tlichtenheld,Although the Canon site says there is no driver for 10.10, if you ignore the "detection" function, scroll to the driver for 10.7 and download, it will work for 10.10 - at least it worked for me.

Jun 1, 2016 1:50 AM in response to tlichtenheldby winglet,And a thank you from me as well, as the 10.7 Lion driver works in 10.11.5. Makes sense I guess, as long as the print architecture of OS X doesn't change too much from version to version the older drivers should work...but this way Canon can encourage the less tech-savvy to buy a new printer...they wouldn't do that would they? Naw....
Allowed my g/f to use her printer, she was pretty happy about it and I got to look smarter than I am!

Aug 15, 2016 1:47 PM in response to wingletby winterbozu,hm,
tried this on 10.11.6 with driver 10.7. But for every page I try to print I get an error.
I can still not believe that I have to throw away a perfectly functioning printer for these stupid driver issues.
Help appreciated!

Aug 16, 2016 8:31 AM in response to winterbozuby Eric Root,If you haven't done so already, try resetting the printing system.
Reset the printing system - OS X El Capitan
You might be able to find a driver here.
