Q: I just can't get Passbook to work at all

I searched the forums and found people were having some of these problems around the time of Passbook's launch in 2012, but none of the suggested fixes seem to be working in my case.

When I launch Passbook, the only two options are to "Scan Code" or to get "Apps for Passbook". I downloaded three apps that are supposed to work with Passbook: Ticketmaster, MLB.com At The Ballpark, and WestJet. I accessed a couple different sets of tickets on the Ticketmaster app, but though the "Add to Passbook" badge was there, it was not clickable. In the At The Ballpark app, I could click the "Add to Passbook" badge, but it took me to Safari and then said "Download failed: Safari cannot download this file".

I get the sense Passbook hasn't loaded properly on my phone and everything else will fall into place once I get it working, but have no idea how to fix it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, please and thanks!

    Hello dfalloon

Check out the article below and see if the troubleshoot will resolve the issue of your tickets not being updated to Passbook.

    iOS: Using Passbook

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5483

    Pass not updating

If a pass isn't updating as expected, try the following:

    1. Ensure that you have an active Internet connection.
    2. Tap the info icon on the pass and check the last time it was updated.
    3. If it hasn't updated recently or if it doesn't appear to be correct, you can "pull to refresh" to update the pass.
    4. Turn on Automatic Updates.
    5. If it still doesn't update as expected, try quitting Passbook and opening it again. If the pass is still incorrect, check with the company or vendor that provided the pass.

    Regards,

    -Norm G.

    Hi Norm,

Thanks for the reply. I think my issue is coming from something a little earlier on in the process - I don't even think my phone will let me access Passbook properly, by the looks of things.

Not all ballparks can accept Passbook tickets. Maybe ypur problems have something to do with that. I use Passbook for my Amtrak tickets and my Delta airline boarding passes. Never had problems with those. I do get a message though when I try to load a boarding pass into my Delta app when I'm flying from an airport that cannot scan my phone.

The last resort is to reset your iphone to Factory settings and start as a new iphone first without loading from your backups and you will have a working passbook. THEN restore your apps from the backups.

It solved the same problem on my iphone, finally. The apple genius could not figure it out.

I guess the reason is that we did not initialize the Passbook correctly the first time and that setting got saved in the backups ever since.

    Hope it helps.
