Q: Superdrive fail after Mountain Lion Installation?

I have a Macbook Pro early 2008 2.4 Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB ram 667 MHz, GeForce 8600M GT 256MB, HDD500GB 7200 rpm.

The superdrive was working just great with OSX Lion, I've upgradded to Mountain Lion and it stopped working.

 

It try to read the disks and after 5 to 10 seconds after it ejects it. It doesn't matter if it it a CD or a DVD or if it ir empty or a original music CD. It simply ejects every type of media.

 

Did this happened with anyone?

 

I've tried to downgrade to Lion again but I only have Lion in DVD to make a clean intall but the superdrive doesn´t accept it. I don't know what else to do.

 

Can somebody help me?

    I had installed ML and then upgraded to 10.8.5...SuperDrive failed and I have an external Samsung Blu-Ray USB DVD player....it also cannot read CDs or DVDs.

     

    Stuff I Tried

    I removed the Finder Prefs file.

    I tired removing my entire User/Library/Prefs folder and rebooted

    Zapped the PRAM. Did a complete shutdown of the computer..and removed all USB attachments

    I downgraded and reinstalled 10.8.2

     

     

    So I feel the OS has broken something here.

    Note sure if serious...re: date change.

     

    So, anyone successfully upload from Lion OS X 10.7 straight to Yosemite to avoid this problem by chance?  Working with Apple Support here in Finland in order to get a refund for my Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.5 purchase so I can get back my USB SuperDrive functionality, which was working 100% for the past 3+ years on my Mini Mac (mid 2011) and Lion.
