Q: Blu-Ray burning error after Final Cut Pro 10.1.2 update.

I upgraded Final Cut Pro X to 10.1.2  I can no longer burn blu-ray.  I get an error message "Either the video file or the audio file were an invalid format".  I get the same message sharing through Final Cut or through Compressor.  Please help!

"either the video file or the audio were not in a valid format" when trying to burn a blu ray

Not free but @ $100, you may find this  preferable to losing business.

Having the same issues . . . beyond frustrating.  I was able to get a Blu-Ray burned after about 10 attempts.  Just kept trying and rebooting each time, and eventually it worked . . . not sure how.  However, there is pixelization that I've never had before when using FCPX and Compressor.

I followed your instructions and have successfully burned 2 Bluray's! Lesson learned about not allowing automatic updates. Although the "Apple Professional Applications" employee dealing with my case # was verbally helpful, Apple engineers really dropped the ball on getting this situation fixed.

    I'm back in business!

I think I may have solved this crazy situation. I have a project in FCPX that is 29.97 fps. When I clicked share blu ray I noticed that it was changing it to 25fps which is PAL. Sending to compressor allows you to change the frame rate from 25 to 29.97. For some reason both programs default to 25fps. I no longer get the "either video or audio is not a valid format" error, and I can create disk images or burn directly to blu ray with no issues. Hope this works for everyone!

WWonder if it's related to the language setup, though the fail or success of burning a Blu-ray doesn't seem dependent on starting with a 29.97 project.

I recall there was someone else who recently posted a problem with his NTSC project flipping to PAL with DVD sharing.

Edit: Or maybe it was Bllu Ray sharing.

How easy would it be to add "not PAL or NTSC" in the error message than the vague "not a valid format" version dished up.

FCP X seems to be able figure PAL and NTSC in other areas!!!

    I think I have a solution.
Doing some last testing with Toast 11 and if it works I'll post the workflow...
