Q: Need old Netflix app for iPad on OS 5.1.1

The latest app requires OS. 6.

0, and this iPad tops out at 5.1.1. I've seen posts regarding obtaining older versions from the iTunes store, but that isn't working either. Both tech support at apple and Netflix say the older app is unavailable for download thru them. I should find someone who already has it on the Internet if I want it. Anyone have a suggestion?

If its not in the app store, it's not available and you can't download from another source.

There are LOTs of iPad 1 users who are upset that the 5.1.1 app is not avaiable. Contact Netflix to see if they will restore it to the store.

Hey, I finally got something to work!! I went to my desktop computer, opened my itunes account and downloaded the netflix app there. When that was finished, I was able go back to my ipad and it now offered me the option of downloading an older version of the app. It did not offer that option until I had downloaded the app to my desktop first. I've wasted the entire day on the phone with tech support from apple and netflix telling me there was no way to get this older version downloaded, and here it is!

    Sneaky little buggers, eh?

thanks.  This worked for me.  I wiped my iPad 1 and gave it to my mom to use.  She couldn't even download a weather app because they all need version 6+.  However, after downloading an app on my pc to iTunes, it would then appear on the iPad and say it could download an older version.  this worked - i though the iPad 1 was useless until I found this.

This still worked for me, July 22, 2014. I called Netflix and gave them the tip. They liked it and will add it to their help solutions.

I can't get this to work. It downloads no problem via my desktop but when I sync the ipad, the Netflix app won't install fully, it hangs around 65%.

No, don't try to sync the App.  It won't work, because its not compatible.

Once downloaded to your computer, Open the App Store App on your iPad, and look for Netflix in the Purchased Tab.

It will likely tell you its not compatible, but will offer the last compatible version.

Don't do it by synching.! Now that you have it on your desktop, just go to your iPad and get the Netflix app from the app store. After it tells you the latest version won't work on your iPad, it will ask if you want to download an older, compatible version. Yes, please. Voila.
