Q: Connection Time out...

Hi,

I recently completed a cross country trip for job relocation. While I look for a place, I am staying with friends.  Both my MacBook Pro (running 10.8.5) and my ipad (latest software) connected flawlessly to every wi-fi network as I traveled cross country.  Now, my ipad WILL connect, but my computer will not. I keep receiving a "connection timeout" message and my wi-fi dot is yellow.  I have reset the modem, router, turned off my airport, shut down the mac and restarted and STILL the same error message.

The security on the router is a WPA2 encryption (the same type I had at home) and I KNOW the password is correct. Please help!! I am going crazy!

What airport exactly do you have??

The laptop can become overloaded with networks.. go to the wireless part of your network preferences.. and empty out all the existing wireless networks.

See Tesserax document on fixing wireless issues.. as the same idea is there.

AirPort - Unable to connect after sleep/restart

I recommend you factory reset the Airport.. do the setup again using short names.. no spaces and pure alphanumeric.

Use only WPA2 Personal security with a password that is pure alphanumeric mix of case and numbers.

If you still have issues post back.
