Aug 11, 2014 6:37 PM in response to Bempaby David Harbsmeier,Your signature line states you're running a OS 9.0 on a MacPro .... how does that work? No wonder things are crashing!
Seriously though, what OS are you running? Also, what video format are you working with. If it's a format that is non-native to FCP (like H.264 or any other MPEG-4 variation) you should expect all sorts of problems.

Aug 12, 2014 11:39 AM in response to Michael Grenadierby Bempa,Hi Michael -
Thanks, as usual, for your help ... here are my specs. So far, today I have not crashed. I think it's due to the fact
that I dragged both my projects onto the Mac desktop, as opposed to using them from the overly packed drive.
I guess I'll see when I start opening up other projects to access footage ... that usually causes a crash or two, or
five hundred.
I've never been able to easily navigate the Apple website, ironically. But now, I have no idea why I can no longer
see my profile and all of my former questions (which I still sometimes like to refer to when I've forgotten the answers
to reoccurring problems).
Again - thanks. I'm finally getting a lot of uninterrupted work done today ... but I certainly wouldn't mind hearing if there
are any issues with these specs or any other ideas as to why FCP is constantly crashing on most days.

Aug 13, 2014 8:31 AM in response to Bempaby Michael Grenadier,I'm not seeing the screen grab. Looks like the link is broken. Can you just tell us the pixel dimensions, frame rate and codec (compressor). Knowing the camera that it was shot on might also help.
Also, always make sure you have a minimum of 10% free space on your media drives and at least 20% on your startup drive and make sure your fcp project doesn't get much bigger than 100%.

Aug 15, 2014 9:21 AM in response to Michael Grenadierby Bempa,Hi Michael -
Frame rate: 23.98 fps
Pixel: Square
Codec: Apple Pro Res 422
Not sure of which camera was used.
Thanks again! I appreciate it!! -
Aug 15, 2014 9:25 AM in response to Bempaby Michael Grenadier, pixel dimensions? something like 1920x1080...
Reading your recent post where you say you've dragged the projects to the desktop from a crowded drive. Project files should reside on your startup drive and the desktop is just a folder on your startup drive.
Did you go thru the troubleshooting tips I pointed to you earlier?
