Q: iPad2 activation issue after factory reset

Hi,

I did a factory reset "Erase all contents and settings" on my iPad 2, but there are issues with activating the iPad. I have tried it connecting with itunes and restore it both with Recovery mode and DFU mode, but still the issue persist.

Please help to resolve this.

What are the issues? What have you tried? What happened when you tried?

If there is an error message, what is the exact complete wording of that message?

You need to provide more details before someone can offer assistance.

    Hi,

Following following sequence of activities were performed before the error was displayed for the first time.

    1. Deactivated find my device option on iPad

    2. Did factory reset "Erase all contents and settings"

    3. Device was restarted for new setup - Lanuage > Country > Wifi Network selection >Activation

    4. During activation step, message was displayed "Your iPad could nto be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iPad to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes. If thir problem persists, contact Apple Support at apple.com/support"

Activities done to resolve the issue.

    1. Updated iTunes to latest version 11.3.1.2

    2. Tried to activate from 2 different networks, didnt work

    2. Tried Restore iPad from iTunes. This didnt work, same message on iPad

    3. Based on the information online forums, tried to restore in Recovery mode which didnt work and also tried the DFU mode which again dint work

    4. Till now the same message is displayed and unable to find it through iCloud since find option is deactivated.

Hope this helps for suggesting some way around for this.

    Hi Tom,

    Thank for providing these links.

I have already tired options mentioned in first 3 links, but couldn't resolve the issue.

The 4th link, I couldn't check with this option since the application cannot be installed due to system security.

Could you suggest any other way? Can the Apple support team be able to resolve this ?

I had the same problem and was stuck for 3 days.
Then I tried the restore procedure connecting the ipad to a different computer, and it worked.
Then I connected to my computer to restore the last backup.

Here is a link to the restore procedure i used:If you can’t activate your iPad 2 (GSM model) after you update to iOS 9.3 - Apple Support

It seems like the patched version has the same number of the bad one. So iTunes does not download it, but uses the local copy.

    I hope this helps..

    Rafael.
