Sep 23, 2014 8:09 PM in response to brianfrommechanicvilleby tapedoctor,I did this as Brian instructed and it deleted 6 GB of "Other" data on my iPhone 5. Everything is restored - at least so far as I can tell - from my apps, etc. I will expect to do this more frequently in the future. I have PhoneClean, and even on the "Deep Clean" setting, it only removed 1.5 MB of this "Other" data. Thanks! Just make sure you back your phone up first.

Oct 13, 2014 9:25 AM in response to jukeboxgby TheBornAgainJonesy,I just used iMazing on a 15 day trial, it accessed my iPhones file structure and I found I had 33GB's of Music which wasn't been identified. I took the plunge and just selected all and hit delete. Its took about 15 seconds and immediately restored the iTunes summary as accurate.
It must not have liked me deleting all my music...
Really?

Oct 15, 2014 10:13 AM in response to brianfrommechanicvilleby datbates,Now using iOS 8. Using iFunBox I found a video file in the "Media/CloudAssets" file that was using 4 gig of space and attributing it to Other as well. Don't forget to check there. Apple should probably show this under the "Video" section I think... hmmm.

Nov 17, 2014 5:18 PM in response to jukeboxgby zydratelove,I've tried everything on this list and the only thing that works is the full system reset. I just reset 2 months ago because of this problem, and now I have 39.96 GB of other, sending my iPod touch over capacity by 16.97 GB. Has ANYONE come up with something else? This is so frustrating. Come on, Apple.

Nov 17, 2014 8:39 PM in response to zydrateloveby JEM24,Hey Zydratelove, That much "other" would indicate corrupt file(s), probably hiding in your backup. When you stated you ran a "full system reset" did you mean a full Restore to New? If you didn't do that, even if you did, do that! Do a Restore to New (factory restore), do not use the Restore from Backup, (if it is a corrupt file you're just putting it back on your iPod). Instead give this a try; make backups of all your stuff onto your computer first, via the cable, so you don't lose information, (photos, music from sources outside iTunes, apps, contacts, etc. Then with the iPod connected to your computer with the cable, Restore to New through iTunes, as if this was your first iPod ever. Then without using the backup, reinstall all the info, your stuff on the iPod manually. (I know-- it's slow and a bit of a pain). Then check that all is working as it should, and that all you want is on the iPod. Your "other" should be down around 1.5G to 2G+/-. (You never get rid of all other, it contains none category information, usually stuff that comes with apps, music, etc... imbedded data that is necessary for the operation of your iPod.) If all checks out, then make a new backup for the future. Hope this helps, Cheers.

Jan 20, 2015 11:53 AM in response to JEM24by adolfgarlic,I have 58.44 GB of other due to a sync which completed with success but has obviously somehow gone wrong (all I did was add some extra songs to sync)
and now my phone is full (128gb phone I should add)
This is unacceptable
this is not the first time I've had issue with itunes/iphone sync, apple need to fix it as it's obviously a bug

Jan 26, 2015 3:13 AM in response to jukeboxgby JAYZEE79,Hi there. Have had the same issue a couple of times. Suddenly 85GB of Other data appears and my 76GB of music won't sync/partially syncs. Have restored the phone with success for a couple of weeks, and then the problem dropped in again. Am now trying a restore from backup and have reinstalled itunes too. Applecare have been through this with me on the phone. So far seems ok. (iPhone 6Plus 128GB)
Steps are: Restore phone from backup - disconnect phone from itunes after software has been extracted - reinstall itunes - reconnect phone - continue restore from backup.
Good luck!

Mar 1, 2015 6:14 PM in response to JAYZEE79by megroves,I have found a different path of getting rid of "other" - at least it worked for me....
Instead of doing the iDevice Reset/Restore from Backup that is published everywhere and seems to only last for a short time before "other" creeps up again in a few syncs, I actually went onto Apple.com and downloaded/reinstalled iTunes and my "other" disappeared and has actually stayed gone!
Details:
1. Go to Apple.com
2. Click on Support in the upper right of the webpage
3. Scroll to the bottom of the screen to Resources, and click Downloads and Updates
4. Download the latest iTunes
5. Find downloaded file and double click it to reinstall iTunes following prompts
This process did not take long, I did not have to remove any cache, cookies, scores, restore, etc.... Hope this works for you too!

May 2, 2015 3:31 AM in response to megrovesby Mitch 751,After dealing with this for more than 10 hours. I realised that there was an album name temp_1 in the iPhoto.
Therefore I deleted the album (I believed it was a corrupted one) and took a bit longer time to empty the trash.
Now the sync went very smooth and the 25 GB other disappeared.

May 28, 2015 2:21 PM in response to Ramjet7by professorshours,I spent several hours removing Safari history and Old text messages and Old Emails... and STILL had 5.05 GB of "Other" on my iPhone 6 when I re-connected the phone to iTunes. Yes, I rebooted the phone before reconnecting it to iTunes. HOWEVER, after calling Apple, and they were confused as well... and kept telling me..."Gee. Yes, I've noticed that problem with my iPhone as well..." I tried sorting the APPs in the iTunes Tab to view by SIZE instead of by name or type (with the iPhone connected to my Mac) and Voila! The "Other" size shown in iTunes reduced back down to 880.9MB - which is about what it should be. I also Unchecked the Sync Box for Photos before "sorting the Apps". I don't know why this worked, but the Senior (third tier - third time I told my story to apple), said he didn't know why - but sometimes iTunes gets "stuck" and does not give an accurate reading of the iPhone Device and maybe "sorting" just forced it to re-evaluate the iPhone contents. I don't know why iTunes does not re-evaluate my iPhone when I un-dock and re-dock my phone., or when I delete stuff and then re-boot the phone and then re-dock the phone into iTunes - but heck... another WEIRD WORKAROUND for Apple's bad developers... Bring it back to the US of A, folks!!!
