Q: To do list on Calendar has disappeared??

I have kept a to do list on my calendar where I keep all my monthly bills that need to be paid. Since my upgrade to Maverick I cannot find the list in calendar. Does this list exist in the new calendar format?

Appreciate any help.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

I did find my Todo list migrated into the Reminders App which was in the Applications Folder on the Dock.

Unfortunately it is not linked to Calendar which was a strength of the old version. A very poor update by Apple.

Thanks Cam. I found the Reminders app and things seem intact. Yep seems like a weird decision.

Yes, that was a really stupid thing Apple did and I can't understand why. To put the calendar and the to-dos back together again, the only way is BusyCal, which is far too expensive for what it does, but which for me is indispensable.

BusyCal has always been worth the price charged for it, it's far superior to Calendar.

    It's a bargain.

If you want ToDo's to be integrated into the Calendar use BusyCal.

I agree with all the above.  Bring back the to-do lists!  It has been indespensible to me for time management, and directly linked through color coding with each of my calendars.  I also recommended it to others, and in my business, taught clients how to have their weekly time managment and associated to do lists right there.  Plus the prioritising feature and the ability to sort by priority was great as well.

WHY has this gone, and now another complication added.

The beauty of Apple programs is simplicity and functionality.  This was clearly a downgrade :-/

Integration of To Do lists and the main calendar was removed a while ago, there is no sign of its impending return

Tell Apple you want it back: Apple Feedback, no one here can bring it back for you.

Nor is there any sign of my own impending return to Calendar + a separate To-Do list.

I have very little faith that Apple listens to feedback. And anyway why did they split them? It makes no sense.

Anyway I'm happy with BusyCal for now. It simplifies my workflow because the Calendar + To-Do list are in one place and work together.

Yes BusyCal is terrific, I have used it since 10.6 and never looked back.

I lost my to-do list when I went from 10.6.8 to Mavericks. BUMMER!

I'm looking for an alternative to Apple's Calendar and Reminders. I really want that list of reminders in date order on the right hand side of the calendar like we had with iCal.

On the alternative you're using, does it transfer that same functionality to you iPhone?

I did end up using it when I had to upgrade to Mavericks because of GarageBand.

The Reminders list is fine, and will order by date.  Yes, it all syncs to your iPhone.

What I do miss however is the color coding on the To Do lists, as they were linked to categories on the calendar, but whatever.

I wish they would take some polls or surveys or something before they go changing some pretty important features.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

I have 2 issues that I know about now. Might be more as I learn more as I just converted to Mavericks yesterday!!

    1. On my Macbook Pro I can see the reminders for each day I click on. But, if I want to see my whole list at one time to review unscheduled reminders, I can't see all reminders at once. At least not from what I can tell.

    2. On the iPhone all my Reminders from the Macbook wind up in a To Do List that I can't figure out a way to sort. It's just a jumble. Again, perhaps I'm missing something....

Bottom line is I think Apple did take away some functionality that it seems a lot of people use, want, need......

I did send feedback to Apple, for what it's worth, to voice my feelings.....
