Q: "add to library" on ibooks mac does not synch to ipad

I have a dot ibooks file created in ibooks Author.  I have used Export to put it in a folder on my Mac (Mavericks) and then used Add to Library to put the dot ibooks file into iBooks.  It appears in iBooks on the Mac and I can open it and read it.  It does not automatically synch with connected ipad.  I have tried putting it into a "Collection" and making sure that "Synch Collections" is checked but it still does not automatically synch.  What am I doing wrong?  How can I get iBooks on Mac to synch with iBooks on iPad?

thanks

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)

    Are you syncing via iTunes.

Connect your device. Select your iPad. Choose Books tab.

Here you have the options as to what books you would like to sync.

    Hope this helps.

Hi PJRS.  I used to synch via iTunes for books.  Mavericks has now removed that tab and the books; they are now all in a new app, iBooks on my Mac.  That's why I am having the trouble, I think, because it is new ... to me.

Hi PJRS.  I went back and looked at iTunes.  The Book tab is not in my library but it is on my ipad viewer.  I then tried Add to Library on iTunes and it did not look like it had worked.  But 10 minutes later it had.  So now I have synched via iTunes and the book is now on the ipad.

    thank you.

    Glad your sorted.
