Q: t'fer of data from powerbook G4 to Macbook pro
I read up on prev. postings re: getting data from one mac to other using cloning or migration or other methods. Not sure in my situation which method is best.
I have an old Powerbook Mac from 2002 using 10.4.11 (which cannot be updated due to age), I also have an iBook G4 using 10.4.11 from 2005, now I have a Macbook Pro from 2009 using 10.6.8 snow leopard.
My goal is to get my iTunes and iPHoto data off the old mac, then also apps: microsoft office NK 11.3.5, adobe reader 9, adobe photoshop vs 8.0,, address book, appleworks 6.0, firefox & old bookmarks, safari & bookmarks, imovie HD 6.0, iweb 1.1.2, photo impression 5., . and some other generic data off of the old mac.
I understand that some issues will arise between compatibility etc. with versions of programs, and that I may just have to buy an iLife package to suit new computer using 10.6.8 ( does iLife still exist?)
I don't want to clone and end up with old junk off old mac, rather would start fresh and just drag over what i need document/file wise.
I copied folder of old iTunes onto usb stick but once it was on newer mac songs would not open when I opened the new iTunes mac - they're not syncing together, nor can I get my outgoing mac mail to work, so at this point I've stopped all transfer to seek help/advice here.
Old mac mail is using icloud imap acct but newer mac uses mobile me imap. It is receiving but not sending.
Thank you in advance,
Anne
