Q: New quicktime screen recording error on start
I know exactly what the problem is.... (audio device selected in screen recording) is causing quicktime to have an error as soon as I start a new screen recording "The operation could not be completed" and then instantly closes not letting me select any different audio devices. If I do a new audio recording or movie recording, it opens up and works fine but doesn't work with screen recording.
Is there somewhere I can trash the settings or plist so it resets my settings? Changing my audio devices in Apple Preferences does not fix it.

Hi all,
I have resolved this issue on my machine thanks to the fantastic assistance of Apple care over the phone.
Turns out that my External Soundcard was causing the issue.. (may be some sort of sample rate clocking issue i'm guessing)
Quick time used to record Movies, same as in iMovie and photobooth with the built in iSight camera. Suddenly these all stopped working.
I would suggest unplugging all things connected to any USB, Firewire ports in your machine. (In My Case My Soundcard being one of them)
Then try Quicktime and recording a Movie with it. See if it works.
I also did a SMC reset with everything disconnected and started my Mac up again.
This has worked for me so thought i'd share. Hope it helps.
