What version of iPhoto do you have?
How was the iPhoto library moved to the new system? Or is it a totally new library?
Where are you seeing these "incorrect" face orientations - Note that directly accessing the contents of the iPhoto library is not supported and it is recommended that you simply stay out of the iPhoto library unless directed to go in by a very experienced person - you should only work on the iPhoto library using iPhoto

Aug 27, 2014 1:02 PM in response to LarryHNby JamesRosenRosen,iPhoto Version 9.5.1 (902.17)
It was moved to the library by being imported from an NTFS external hard drive, which has now been reformatted to Mac OS Extended (Case Sensitive, Journaled), the iPhoto library was originally located on the built in SSD drive, but is now located on an external hard drive, due to capacity limitations.
I am seeing the incorrect face orientations when I view the faces in the faces view of iPhoto, when I go onto a person, some are incorrect orientation.
But when I click on the files, they are correct.

They are also incorrect using photo screen savers.
(These images are for demo purposes only, and the issue is not limited to the photos shown).

Aug 27, 2014 1:06 PM in response to JamesRosenRosenby Terence Devlin,Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Maybe I will just have to deal with it, which is annoying

Aug 28, 2014 12:13 PM in response to JamesRosenRosenby Old Toad,You might try this and see if the problem with orientation continues.
Starting over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
1. Open the library package like this.
2. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
3. Drag the subfolders of the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the open iPhoto Library package into the open iPhoto window a few at a time.
This will create a new library with the same Events (but not necessarily the same Event names) as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.
Note: your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.
