Q: Mavericks installation question.

I downloaded Mavericks(took a while), hit install (going onto a different MacBook Pro), the macbook began to restart itself(I heard the chime), but now nothing. Dark screen. Is the installation process still going on? Or should I try to start the laptop? Thanks  in advance.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

The latest: I held the power button down, which shut the computer off(no sleep indicator light when the lid closed). I hit the power button to power back up, heard the chime, got a grey screen and am now being asked to set up the computer from scratch. What did I do?

    1. Does your computer have a set to Battery LEDs? If yes, please check the battery status. There should be a button to press and it should show you the battery level. The location depends on whether you have a removable battery or a built-in battery.

    2. Is the power adapter connected and functional?

    3. Instead of an Upgrade, did you execute an erase installation of Mavericks?

    4. Set up Mavericks and login and check your files.

Ended up calling Apple this morning. Apparently there was a rare glitch that put the Mavericks install on a permanent "loop." The techie had me to a disk erase, then clean install of Mavericks. Now I'm transferring yesterday's external hd backup(thank GOD I did that) back to the laptop. Thanks for your help, Loner T. You got me headed in the right direction.
