Q: Does anyone know the difference 2013 and 2014 Macbook Pro's

HI Gang,

I'm gonna do it...  I'm gonna downsize from m y Late 2011 Macbook Pro 17" with 1TB SSD and 16GB Ram to the new 15" (as of Sept 7 2014)...

I would love people's opinions.  I'm a power user.  One of those guys using macs for decades and not afraid to tear them apart.

So, I've narrowed my search down to this:

A Refurbished 2013 Macbook Pro 15" 16GB 1TB 2.6Ghz for $2793.31 (after tax)

Or,

a Brand new 2014 Macbook Pro 15" 16GB 1TB 2.5Ghz for $2914 (Education pricing after tax)

Both with what looks like the exact same external graphics card

  • Intel Iris Pro Graphics and NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M with 2GB of GDDR5 memory

So....   I read this:

http://www.macrumors.com/roundup/macbook-pro/

It was helpful, but I really just want to know, all said and done, is there any other difference between the late 2013 and the 2014 models?  I'm asking here because Apple does not know.

Yes, that's right. I know...  Apple does not know.  I'm being sarcastic.  Well, maybe not.  I asked their live chat sales guys, and it was like talking to a robot.  I'd Ask "Can you tell me the differences between the 2014 and 2013 Macbook Pro's aside from the processor speed"  And the response was, "the 2014 will be faster, would you like me to put one into your shopping cart for you?"  Um huh?

Anyway, I'm hoping my fellow Mac heads can give me some useful info.  In the ends, it sounds like not much of a difference, so I could even consider a used 2013 (late 1013, I know the Wifi card changed to 802.11ac mid year 2013).

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Best,

Ethan-
