Q: Albums Disapear Randomly

Why is it that whole albums are disappearing in Itunes.   The only thing that remains is the playlist to prove that I first set it up but that is all.  I would think that loading the album one time should be enough with Itunes match,  but nothing is more frustrating than seeing a playlist that I created last week only to find out this week is empty and that I should "go to Itunes and purchase it".  I am not understanding what it is in their software that causes music to disappear.   Please don't suggest its my computer thats the problem as this music is stored in the cloud.   I look forward to someones explaination but I don't expect much from apple as they seem to be ignoring this question.

I don't have iTunes Match, so I can't really help much with how that works. That said you ought to have at least one computer that has real local copies of all of your media, and that should be backed up.

Well,  while appreciate your sympathies,  I don't appreciate the assumption that I don't back up my computer.   The first thing that Itunes match does is wipe your entire computer clean by moving all of your music files up to the cloud,  which is also a nice "feature" and not sure what their intentions were on that move other then to keep you from going to Amazon.    Oh you sure can download them at any time and depending on the time of day or hour,  your albums may still exist.   or then again they might just leave you with a reminder,  an Empty playlist.

Since you made no mention of being able to restore the vanished albums I made what I took to be a reasonable assumption. To the best of my knowledge iTunes Match isn't supposed to remove your media, but match what it can with existing content in the store, and upload what it cannot match. Subsequently your content can be accessed on demand from other devices as long as you maintain your subscription.

You are correct!  "ITunes Match isn't supposed to remove media".  But alas it does which is why I posted.   Your second statement I suspect is the real undisclosed source of the problem which is basically anything that Apple doesn't have in its store for purchase, they don't recognize you as having purchased it either.   Conveniently it just disappears leaving a ghost playlist And me to tear my hair out!   Sure I can always upload the album again But how many times is magic touch?  pretty sure this is an issue with a policy set on their servers and music being uploaded that is not recognized by Apple And not a configuration issue on my computer which by the way has taken all the updates and remains in the default configuration.  Why should I have to tweak their software just keep my music from disappearing.  I'd call that a major fail but that's just me.
