Sep 10, 2014 5:37 PM in response to Kilgore-Troutby Dragon73,I too just discovered that Guided Access is missing from my old iPad 1 (I have all the newer iPads, as well so not sure what's happened to the original iPad). We used to use this for our children, and suddenly it seems to be disabled and now missing!
I have checked for software updates, (it's currently running 5.1.1and says up to date).
Should I do a hard reset? Or is there another reason why the Guided Access happens to suddenly be missing? We have come to rely on that feature a lot for our children (one who is 5 and happens to have Down syndrome and is an expert at using his iPad).
Any suggestions before I have to do a hard reset?
Thanks in advance....

Sep 10, 2014 7:13 PM in response to Dragon73by Dragon73,Hi Bobseufert,
Thanks for the info, but that can't be right since we have always used it. Either in the last update (for iPad 1) they removed it, (which I can't see why they would do that...) or the article you have provided is incorrect. I know it's not true, because we have always used Guided Access on ALL of our iPads, including the original iPad 1. Either that or I'm going to have to think I'm loosing my mind!See here: https://snapguide.com/guides/lock-your-ipad-to-1-app-using-guided-access/
So, it was there - I personally have set it up and used it (just to learn today I can't because it's "actually missing".).
My question is, did it get removed, did my iPad have a hiccup (I've had "SETTINGS CONTENT" go missing on other devices in the past like HotSpot (on iphones) which I found directions to replace...) AND how do I get it back? Unless, it somehow was removed (for reasons unknown) and can't be replaced.I'm not the only person with this question, the original poster above also lost their Guided Access but on their iPad 2. So, I know I'm not alone, and iPad 2 obviously can be updated to version 6, no? I realize that iPad 1 has no further updates and is stuck at 5.1.1....
Hopefully there is an answer?

Sep 10, 2014 7:26 PM in response to Dragon73by bobseufert,If you had it on an iPad 1 I don't know why you no longer have it. The iPad in your link is a least a iPad 2, you have to look closely but you can see FaceTime in the settings and FaceTime needs a camera to work. I think the original poster had an iPad 2 still running IOS 5.1.1, they never answered James Ward's question.

Sep 10, 2014 8:19 PM in response to bobseufertby Dragon73,Hi Bobseufert,
Sorry, I didn't look closely at the link's iPad - and so, my appologies on that. For ourselves though, we used it for our daughter and quite frequently, so I'm not sure at all what's happened! We stopped using it for a bit of time because she had learned not to press ads or links that she shouldn't, but I wanted to activate it today for another reason (our littlest one is now using it) and lo and behold, it's not there. I am dumbfounded myself.., so I guess there isn't really an answer!
Thanks anyhow!

Sep 10, 2014 8:26 PM in response to Dragon73by bobseufert,You're welcome. The article wasn't clear on which iPad it was, you owe me no apologies. I have no reason to doubt you had it. I just can't find a solution, sorry.
