Sep 11, 2014 5:01 AM in response to kaspam215by davom97,This has been frustrating for me as well. Since 11.3, iTunes has almost been unusable for me (Win 7, 64 bit). The only remedy I have found is launching iTunes in "safe mode" by holding down Shift & Ctrl simultaneously as I double click the iTunes icon. Even in "safe mode," I still have occasional crashes, but it is an improvement. From what I'm reading now, I probably won't upgrade to 11.4 as I was hoping they would fix the crashing issue.
I listen to several daily podcasts and about two versions ago, Apple tried to get creative with their podcast interface. I don't understand why they can't leave well enough alone. The "bouncing episode" issue in certain podcast views is just insane.
I'm sure Apple's solution to all this is "Buy a Mac."
Peace,
DM

Sep 11, 2014 8:30 PM in response to kaspam215by wolfpack2421,Exact same issue. One "solution" I've found is to immediately click on "Store" and then "authorize this computer." If I am able to put my password in before iTunes stops working, it will not crash.
It's a pretty stupid fix I'll admit, but hopefully it gives someone else a clue as to the root cause of the problem so we can try to figure out a more permanent solution. I'll also keep working on it.
It would be nice if Apple at least gave us a heads up on a possible cause or something.

Sep 12, 2014 8:52 AM in response to kaspam215by joe_73,Hi kaspam215,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
There are several different isolation steps you may need to perform in this situation depending on your own personal Windows computer. I recommend reading over and following all of the troubleshooting steps located in the following article to resolve this issue.
iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues

Sep 13, 2014 12:52 AM in response to joe_73by Papageno44,I've been having the crash on launch issue with Windows 7 x64 as well, not with 11.4 but with the previous 11.3...whatever version. Always get the "iTunes has stopped working" message which claims that iTunes.dll is somehow to blame. One thing that I've observed in the last couple of days is that if I don't have Firefox running when I launch iTunes, I don't get the crash. Maybe it's just coincidence, though, who knows. I'm not updating to 11.4 until they release the inevitable 11.41 bugfix version. Why be Apple's guinea pig?

I have been having problems with bouncing podcasts also before this update and once 11.4 was installed, Itunes totally froze upon opening. I followed the advice on your second link. Safe mode didn't work. Created a new user and found itunes working so I went back and removed the Itunes preferences files. Removing local helped open itunes but I still froze on the podcast page. Removing preferences under roaming did the trick. I didn't replace the local preference file as it states in the directions.
I have been having other podcast problems for a while. They don't download completely or they scramble or both. If I download from the store, they work better but then I get double episodes - one download from subscribed and one from the store. I will report back if this fixed that too and whether or not this fix holds up.

Sep 13, 2014 12:02 PM in response to T0adL1lyby T0adL1ly,Davom7 - After updating my ipod, I am back to bouncing podcasts where the screen toggles between the selected podcast and the first one on the list. I'm thinking that is because I have some shows set to delete on their own because it stopped after a while. Did you use that setting too

Oct 21, 2014 3:38 AM in response to wolfpack2421by tallboy31,Okay, I found something that might help some of you guys if you have tried most things that you think are causing itunes to crash etc. I found out pretty much through dumb luck that because I had reached the limit on how many computers are authorized, then itunes would crash or not connect to itunes store etc. If you had itunes on your pc at somestage and formatted your pc without deauthorizing the computer on itunes and then you reinstalled everything on your computer, if you didnt deauthorize itunes before you had format the pc etc, then you will eventually reach the limit of authorisations, and there is some kind of bug in the software that was causing the crashes etc to occur. There is a way to remove all your authorizations, you sign into itunes and delete them all, but you can only do this 1 time a year.
I was reading about that if you install itunes, and this problem is occuring, try clicking on DeAuthorize this computer and it should remove atleast 1 of authorizations, i tried this myself today and it worked and i had formatted my computer and installed windows onto my computer it was a fresh install. If you want to read about this, here it is. Authorize your computer using iTunes
I edited this so many times it isnt funny. Basically if you have reached the limit of authorizations, then itunes and your computer wont talk to each other, I couldnt figure out what was going on, I tried installing earlier versions of itunes but something was causing issues, it just didnt tell me at the time that it was due to the limit being reached of authorizations. I cant figure out why, but to be honest, alot of the problems that occur on itunes sometimes are a complete mystery and even contacting apple doesnt solve it. I couldnt work out why my flatmate was able to use his itunes but i couldnt. Now I have a fair idea.

I was reading about that if you install itunes, and this problem is occuring, try clicking on DeAuthorize this computer, if it works, that will mean that you now have 4 computers authorized so you will now be able to reauthorize the computer in Itunes, when you do this, it should tell you, you now have 5 computers Authorized, or you are at the limit or something like that I cant remember right now (which means that this is also working so far), because in order to delete all 5 authorizations, you will need to do it through Itunes, there are instructions on how to do this, I tried this myself today and it worked and i had formatted my computer and installed windows onto my computer it was a fresh install. If you want to read the "how to guide from apple on removing authorizations, plus to clarify a few things"s, here is the link. Authorize your computer using iTunes

Apr 15, 2015 10:11 AM in response to kaspam215by Alerim,You can try :
Start iTunes in Safe Mode
Open iTunes in Safe Mode to isolate any interference from plug-ins or scripts not manufactured by Apple.
- Hold down Shift–Control while opening iTunes. You should see a dialog that says "iTunes is running in safe mode" before iTunes finishes starting up.
- Click Continue.
- See if the issue you're experiencing persists in Safe Mode.
This worked for me on Windows 10 64bit. And made the most I needed to do possible.
