Q: My MacBook Pro is no longer recognizing my printer.
I have a MacBook Pro, OSX 10.9.4. The printer I use is an HP Photosmart Premium. I have always been able to print wirelessly from my laptop. Today, for some unexplained reason, it is not. I have a desktop, Dell, and I am able to print from that. When I try to print from my laptop, nothing happens and there is no printer icon on the dock as there normally would be. When I open the printer preference box, it shows the printer as idle. My wireless connection is also working properly. Can anyone help? Thanks

I ended up calling Apple, who directed me to HP tech support. As it turned out, my printer was NOT on line with the wireless. So, it was a simple matter of getting it back on the network. Apparently the storm we had a few days ago knocked it off line due to a power surge or whatever.
Thank you for taking the time to help me.
