Q: Upgrade to Mavericks 10.9.4

I have MacBook 13" mid 2007, with Snow Leopard installed. Details below:

Model Name: MacBook

Model Identifier: MacBook2,1

Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo

Processor Speed: 2.16 GHz

Number Of Processors: 1

Total Number Of Cores: 2

L2 Cache: 4 MB

Memory: 1.5 GB

My question is what can I do to upgrade this Mac?

I understand that the memory needs to be upgraded to at least 2GB or more.

Will this particular Mac be able to upgrade to Mavericks 10.9.4 if the memory is upgraded?

1. Correct.

2. When done, the computer will be running Lion 10.7.5, not Mavericks 10.9.4. It can't run Mountain Lion or Mavericks regardless of what you might do.

3. No. Back everything up anyway.

1. Upgrade the RAM, click here, and order a download code for Lion 10.7. Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before upgrading. In particular, Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.

Sorry, not very clear with your answer. Do I need to install Lion 10.7 first before I can get the Mac upgraded?

You need to install Lion to upgrade the Mac; it can't run any Mac OS X version newer than 10.7.5.

But the instruction says
OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed
2 GB or more of memory
8 GB or more of available space"
Mine is Snow Leopard 10.6.8

It also says:

which doesn't include your Mac.

Please I want to be more clarified: So all I need to do is, first upgrade the RAM, then install Loin 10.7 before I proceed with the upgrade?
Again, I want to ask about how this lion would be installed. Can I install it online by entering the code I will receive via e-mail after payment?

1. You need to upgrade the RAM and then install Lion. Once done, your computer's OS will be at the newest it can be.
2. Once you've gotten the code, redeem it into the Mac App Store. The installer will begin downloading.

Sorry for my questions please.
In that case I wouldn't have to go through the upgrading process anymore after the installation?
But the question is, will it be Mavericks 10.9. 4, as its the latest?
Again, will the RAM upgrading affect any installed software or application?
