Sep 18, 2014 6:10 AM in response to ckuanby Justin Mader,So you're saying if we used gift cards in the past we can't share? This can not possibly be the correct answer, if it is, then family sharing is a waste before it even got started. Those tips you posted show how to use the same card in the future for purchases, not that you had to use the same card in the past. IF this is true, then it's a seriously stupid limitation. Up until about 3 months ago I never even allowed my card to used by Apple.

Sep 18, 2014 6:17 AM in response to Justin Maderby ckuan,Well tell Apple then.
Family sharing is for future purchases. It just started with IOS 8.

Sep 18, 2014 7:18 AM in response to Justin Maderby enos_u_dipstick,I am having the same issue. I set myself up as an family share organizer, and sent an invitation to my girlfriend, which she accepted. But I see no songs/apps available to download that she has purchased, nor can she see any of mine.
from http://www.apple.com/icloud/family-sharing/?cid=wwa-us-kwg-features-com:
"Everything’s better when shared, and sharing has never been easier. Once you’ve set up Family Sharing, all the songs, albums, movies, TV shows, books, and apps ever purchased by family members are immediately available to everyone else in the group."
So from the above, it would seem that regardless of what credit card, gift card, or whatever was used to purchase content in the past, once family sharing is set up, all members should have access to the past purchases of other members.
What am I missing?

Sep 18, 2014 10:35 AM in response to enos_u_dipstickby mikenitro,I have a similar problem: I can't see any of the Organizer's purchases, but the Organizer can see mine, despite both of us switching on the "Share My Purchases" setting. When going to App Store > Updates > Purchased, all I see is My Purchases--the Organizer is not even listed. Does not match the screenshot in the nicely produced Apple guide to Family Sharing at all.

Sep 18, 2014 11:46 AM in response to Justin Maderby enos_u_dipstick,I've done everything listed here:
If you don't see your family's shared content
Still no go. I guess i'll have to stop by the apple store or something next week after the iphone 6 craziness subsides a bit.

Sep 18, 2014 12:04 PM in response to enos_u_dipstickby mikenitro,Thank you. This led me to a fix. When I went to Settings > iTunes & App Store and verified that my correct AppleID was listed, I decided to tap on it to potentially try logging out/in again. When I tapped on it, I was prompted to enter my password. So even though it may look like you are logged in, you might still need to enter your credentials.

Sep 18, 2014 12:07 PM in response to Justin Maderby millerjw1969,Apparently if you are using a Bank Visa Debit Card iTunes won't allow the Family Sharing.
I just changed my from a Visa Debit to an actual Visa Credit card, and Family Sharing immediately started working.

Sep 18, 2014 1:42 PM in response to millerjw1969by Grant Robinson2,You just have to make some change that makes the apps "refresh" your account status. Changing a credit card, buying something, etc. all seem to do the trick. Seems to be a bug, but that is how you fix it.

Sep 18, 2014 7:36 PM in response to mikenitroby enos_u_dipstick,Thank you. This led me to a fix. Worked for me too - thanks!
For those who like very explicit instructions (like me!):
Settings>iTunes & App Store.
Touch the email address in the Apple ID field.
In the box that appears, touch Sign Out.
Enter your password in the Password field, and click Sign In.
Now go to the App Store app, touch Updates, then Purchased, and you'll see links with the names of persons you are sharing with.
One bug I've found with this sharing arrangement though:
I purchased a game app named "Strata" about a year ago (it's a good one!). It has not been made available for sharing by its developers. So when I look up this app in the app store on my girlfriend's iPad, there's a cloud icon on it, as if it's available for download. But when I click the cloud, an error message appears stating that the app is not available for download "because it was bought by a different user". But since her ID is tied to mine now for purchases, there's no way for the app to be purchased and downloaded separately on her iPad.
So it appears that if one member of a "sharing" group purchases an app that is not sharing-enabled, then others in the group are in effect locked out from obtaining that same app. Oy! Did they test this or think about this? As a software tester by profession, this kind of, 'how-did-this-get-into-production' kind of stuff (especially at Apple!) drives me crazy!

Sep 19, 2014 1:10 AM in response to enos_u_dipstickby garytpaul1975,II getting that message on apps that are sharing enabled too. Not all of them, but quite a few. I guess this is just a bug that'll settle down?

Sep 19, 2014 1:46 AM in response to garytpaul1975by garytpaul1975,Fixed it. Not sur eif all steps are important but I:
- went into Settings>iCloud, tapped on my account, and it prompted me to input my password again.
- Restarted both mine and my daugher's iPads.
- Bought a new free app with my daughter's iPad which neither of us had.
Now the "redownload not available" error doesn't appear and she can download my apps just fine.
Hope this helps.

Sep 19, 2014 6:18 PM in response to garytpaul1975by DoctorTomV,We are getting this error on my daughters iphone. She is trying to get FREE APPS like google, youtube, and others that I had downloaded under my apple_id previously. If she tries to get something that I never got before it works. Ironically, a few apps that I paid for, she was able to download. It's just the free apps that she can't get at this point.
I've tried restarting my device and hers.
I've tried logging in and out of apple_id/icloud on both devices.
Nothing has worked so far.
If I log her in as my apple_id, that works, but it's not how it's supposed to be done.....but without google and youtube, and flash-card apps, and just about everything I let her download to my phone previously for free....what's the point in her having her own device???
APPLE PLEASE FIX THIS AS A PRIORITY ISSUE!!!
Thanks.
