    I've had the same problem.

I've been on the phone with Apple multiple times and now I am at the same stage, to speak with a senior engineer. It's extremely frustrating and affecting business.

A couple of my friends and I all experienced the same outage on the 9th of September. We assumed it had to do with the University wifi which was causing other device problems. I have disproved this on a few occasions by tethering my Mac to my iPhone 5's cellular internet and the problem remained unresolved. I hope this helps direct the search for the answer.

I am also having this same problem and I know of at least one other classmate that has the issue. We both believe it started some time around Sept 9, which coincidentally was the same day the iPhone 6 and iWatch was announced. I also took my mac to the Apple Store and similarly got bumped up to an engineer and am currently awaiting a reply from the "higher-ups" who were supposedly sent a data capture of the problem. This seems like a large problem with Apple devices so hopefully they address it soon.

I've been having the same issue for about a week and half.  I've read all kids of these forums on different sites and no one knows how to fix this.  I've never seen on report about trying something and it working for anyone.  Grrrrr, this is so frustrating. I recently switched to Mac and Apple because I've always been told Apple is so much better and that everything just works.  I guess not, please keep me posted if anyone fixes this thing.

I have the same issue started on the same day Sept 9th.  Thought it was caused by the Southwest wifi.... still unresolved.  Senior Apple care person told me to upgrade my iPad Air to iOS 8 as they thought that would fix it... it didn't.

iPhone 5S running 7.1.2 - iMessage works perfect

MacBook Air running 10.9.4 - iMessage lets me log in but EVERYONE is not registered so I can't send or recieve

iPad Air running 7.1.2 - iMessage lets me log in but EVERYONE is not registered so I can't send or recieve

iPad Air running iOS 8 (upgraded today) - iMessage lets me log in but EVERYONE is not registered so I can't send or recieve

Same error message. The problem started recently. A select few contacts seem to be okay but the majority that used to work are no longer available.

Let's hope Apple fixes this bug instead of letting it go on and on like with the podcast synching issues.

    HI,

I don't think this is down to specific Internet connections or the like.

During Messages 7 and early Messages 8 (Mavericks) it DID used to be solved by the PRAM reset method.

I am not experiencing any issue with my Mac but then again I am not moving networks with it.

We know that since OS X 10.8.2 (the update that included Messages 7.0.1) that the iMessages account has needed the Serial Number of the Mac to be present to create the key held in the Keychain for this.  (IDS: yourAppleID-Auth Token)

Find the item in the Keychain Access app  and double click it - then tick the Show Password box (and confirm Allow in the dialogue box)  and you will see the password is a key and not a password.

It does seem that the item is updated now and then and the latest date I show is the 9th September !!.

I would be tempted to move the item to the Desktop  and then restart the Messages app to see if it is recreated with a new date and Access of course.

I just tried that. My latest update it said was September 16. It didn't let me move it to the desktop. I deleted it (not sure if that was ok to do), and absolutely nothing has changed with Messages.

    HI,

I personally would have deleted it as well.

I take it it was recreated ?  (but that the iMessages account does not change behaviour ).

At present I see little the end user can do (further to what has been tried) on this issue.

If I was experiencing this myself and had tried the above I would then delete the Apple ID from all devices.

On the Mac I would delete the com.apple.imessages.bag.plist and the com.apple.ids.service.com.apple.madrid.plist one (delete the server references and the ID listings.)

On the iPhone and iPad I would remove the Apple ID and the iPhone Number (where required) and then turn off the App

I would then set the  iOS devices to Airplane mode to ensure disconnect from the servers.

I would Quit the App on the Mac (if not done already.)

Following a restart of the Mac I would then set up the Apple ID there.

Then on just the iPhone I would enable Messages just for the iPhone Number.

I would then send a test iMessage from the Mac (Apple ID) to the iPhone (Number) and a return one from the iPhone Number to the Apple ID.

Only if this worked would I Add the Apple ID to the iPhone to create the Sync options and set up any other iOS device.

If it did not work I would consider visiting the Apple ID page and trying to re-verify the various items.

The fact that it is only the Macs that are affected makes it look like an Account/Keychain key issue.

Some of those things may not be changeable by the end user.

I've been following threads on this issue for a while now because it has been affecting my late 2012 13 inch retina macbook as well. I have tried almost every solution I could find online along with talking to apple senior reps and having the apple engineers look into my problem.

Here is a little background knowledge on my situation. I was using my macbook on my university wifi. The wifi at school had problem and went out for 10 minutes or so. Upon reconnecting, my iMessage was not working and has not worked since. Like I said above, I have talked to numerous apple tech guys and tried many potential solutions and all have failed.

Today, I was able to get my mac to sync to my iPhone't sent messages. This is a very complicated and confusing situation to explain via text so I will try my best to be clear.

I was uploading a file to my dropbox account from my macbook. While my macbook was uploading, I was on my iphone sending iMessages. I noticed that while my computer was in the process of uploading, the messages that I sent from my phone were syncing to my computer. For example, if I were to send Frank a message saying "Hello" from my phone, he would receive the message and my macbook would show that a message saying "Hello" was sent to Frank. Also, when Frank began to type his response I would see the cloud icon with the "..." indicating to me that he is typing. But, when he sent the message, it only went to my phone and not my macbook. If I try to message that person directly from my macbook it fails.

This experience today helped explain a previous occurence I had when the problem first appeared. The first day my iMessages stopped working, I was advised to reinstall Mavericks OSX. To back up my files I used airdrop to transfer my files to another mac. During this upload process, I was sending iMessages from my phone and my macbook was syncing the sent messages from my iPhone. Basically it was doing the Hello Fred example I gave above. Exactly like it was doing today while I uploaded a file to dropbox. These 2 occurrences lead me to think there is definitely some type of correlation here that might help someone with more knowledge figure out a solution.

I was only able to achieve this result while uploading files from my macbook. For weeks before today I was not able to get any aspect of iMessage to work on my computer. Now, my sent messages are syncing to my macbook even when I am not uploading. I have quit and restarted the messages app as well as restarted my computer and my computer is still showing and syncing to the messages I send via my iPhone. I do not know what exactly about sending a message while uploading a file made the sync work. All I know is that it did something.

Yes! That example you gave is the exact problem I'm having. When Messages first cut out, I was using Mavericks, and none of my messages were being synced. Then I updated to Yosemite Beta to try to fix it, and that's when my "sent" messages began syncing. I guess we just have to wait until Apple comes out with a fix? I wonder how many people are having this problem, if it's large enough to get Apple's attention.

good to know I'm not the only one having this exact problem. I am currently going back to Mavericks and will test this uploading and messaging theory again. I think you mentioned your problem began on university wifi as well am I correct? Any chance you go to school in Florida? We might be from the same school.

Oh, I'm at a satellite location that doesn't have a dental school, so we wouldn't be sharing a wifi connection.
